President Vinnie welcomes Gaye Nakken from The Woodland Food Closet
A good group assembled for the usual fun filled evening - we had a food mix up so Nick made a mad dash for pizza and Dexter was grateful as he used the pizza box as a plate.  We had several visitors including Vinnies' kids (Hetal come home soon!), Matt Fitch, Bob Nakken, and our friend Petwa from Uganda who is a nurse in Folsom.  Lots of news for Oktoberfest - more sponsorship dollars and the Interactors will be lending some manpower to the event.  This coming weekend we are helping with the Stroll (see Ute) and the Land Trust (see Joe).  Bert attend the District conference and learned a number of things about the Rotary Foundation - He and Paul will be doing a Foundation program in November.  Cass reported Ephram is back in Rwanda for a trip with lots of uncertainty because most of the family he left behind is no longer there.  Our program was done by Gaye Nakken from the Woodland Food Closet.  It was established in 1968 after a Grand Jury report detailed problems in Woodland with families with a food "insecurity" problem.  The Closet's mission is for sort term, immediate response to help families over a rough patch.  The Closet services 500-800 people a month who have been referred by agencies in Yolo County.  Their goal is to provide 3 balanced meals  for 3 days.  They are a private, non profit who rely on donations from the community (Raleys, Boy Scouts, Churches, residents).  Gaye also pointed out the difference between the Food Bank (deals with groups) and the Food Closet (deals with people).  Thank you Gaye for a great program

Nick saves the day - Hooray!
