President Vinnie welcomes a full house of Lunatics for the first meeting of 2013

For the first meeting in 2013, we had a large group of friends and family joining us.  We had a returning visitor, Tom Bridge, from Illinois who is in town visiting his daughter and brand new grand child.  President Vinnie's family was in the house as was Les Engleman, PE from the Noon Rotary club, along with Luna Vista founding family Peter & Marilyn Faye.  Happy Dollars was a great series of celebrations from Illinois Tom's new grandchild, Doug's birthday, the recent holidays, Craig's Taj Mahal of an urinal (minus Charlene's purse), and the recent good pickings for the Woodland Harvest group.  Another fun item was the beautiful centerpieces that Marilyn Faye brought for the meeting along with us congratulating Peter Faye for his 50+ years of perfect attendance in Rotary.  Peter in turn spoken lovingly of how Marilyn was his rock through all the years.

Vinnie also brought back a club flag from his trip to Zambia along with presents for several club members for their help.

Our program was by Shawn Kramer from the Yolo County Food Bank.  She touched on the goals, the history (founded in 1970), and today they support 60 organizations throughout the County.  The Food Bank is the Costco for Non-Profits here in Yolo County (with pictures of their warehouse to prove it).  While discussing how each $1 donated turns into $17 of retail food value, Shawn reviewed a number of the programs the Food Bank is involved with like Fridays Table, Demonstration Kitchen, and the Kids Farmers Market.  Luna Vista is quite proud that quite a number of members are involved with the Food bank.
