During the weeks of March 11 and 17th, the Rotary Club visited St. Jerome's and Vermilion Elementary Schools to introduce and educate students and staff about Rotary International's End Polio Now campaign with Purple Pinkie Day, raising over $280 between the two schools.
The Interact Club at J.R. Robson High School held a bake sale in conjunction with their Purple Pinkie Days and raised over $150 to go towards ending Polio.
With the generosity of the students, and the matching funds from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Rotary Club, over $1000 will be donated to End Polio Now.
 
Last fall the Vermilion Lion' Club purchased a blanket warmer for the residents of the Vermilion Extended Care, they then challenged the Rotary Club of Vermilion to purchase a second warmer. Rotarians stepped up to challenge to help meet the need! Today we joined the Lion's and staff and residents at the Extended Care to check out the first warmer, the second one will arrive in a month or so!
We look forward to partnering with the Lion's Club on future projects that help serve the community! Thank you Lion's for initiating this first collaboration!
It was a busy Thursday on February 6th.  Bob Fisher joined us to talk about the work being done to get some bikes ready for the Rotary Garage Sale in May.  Rotarian Darlene Barlow was presented with her First Paul Harris pin and Rotarian Mary Lee Prior received her third Paul Harris pin.
 
This past Thursday we had an Offsite visit to the Vermilion Credit Union. Did you know Credit Unions were the first banks in Alberta to have ATM's, and that most Credit Unions are regulated by the Province or Territory they operate in? 
Thank you to CEO Dave Eremko for the very informative presentation and wonderful breakfast. 
 
 
We were excited to welcome Denise to our Rotary Family on December 19th at our Christmas Celebration.
Along with the Interact Club of Vermilion the U9 Girls Hockey teams came out Friday November 30th and sold cookies in -25 weather to raise funds for Haying in the 30's.
Together they raised over $700 for the cause! The Rotary Club will match those funds in support of helping cancer patients have transportation to their treatment appointments.
Thank you to the U9 Female Vermilion Tigers Hockey, the Interact Club, Modern Edge Painting for letting us invade their store for three hours, and the community of Vermilion for the 100's of cookies that they donated to support this fundraiser!
Bentley and Hayden Buckingham came to tell the club about their dance adventure in Disneyworld! The girls were part of a workshop that performed in front of visitors at the park in November, after receiving some very intense training and practicing. 
This past Thursday at our offsite visit to the Lt. Col Craig Armoury (thank you Don and Jim for the wonderful Hospitality!) Foundation Chair Scott Webb presented Rotarian Eugene Wasylik with his Paul Harris +8 pin! Congratulations Eugene!
 
Michael Procinsky, Northern Regional Community Developer with Healthy Aging Alberta presented to the club on Thursday. Michael highlighted what Healthy Aging Alberta does across the Province to promote, support and advocate for programming and organizations that work to support Aging in Place for the seniors in our communities.
District Governor Brian Edwards spent the morning of October 10 with us talking about our clubs strengths, Rotary Internationals action plan and the things we do in the community!
On Thursday September 26 Chris Valleau spoke to Vermilion Rotary about his recently produced film on Mental Health
On September 19th Kirby Whitlock (running the meeting in President Dawn Riley’s absence) presented Rebekah Warkentin with her Paul Harris plus 7!
Bentley joined us in August to tell us about her upcoming opportunity to go to Disneyworld's Disney Springs Resort with her sister to participate in a dance workshop for a week this fall! The girls will have the chance to dance with Disney cast members and perform for guests of the resort!
For the last meeting of August we enjoyed some warm sun, fresh baking and fellowship at the Heritage Park before we took a quick glimpse at all the treasures in the Museum!
Past President Kirby Whitlock received his Paul Harris Fellow pin on August 8th. Thank you for your service to the club Kirby in your year as President!

It was a busy day at Rotary this past Thursday.
We had our first guest speaker of the 2024 - 2025 Rotary Year. Pyrrha Ostropolski shared her memories of the Rotary Adventures in Citizenship Camp she attended at the end of May. It was a very busy week, and we are glad she made some amazing friends while she was there!
We also had the opportunity to present Rotarian Erwin with his Paul Harris +4 pin. Congratulations Erwin!
 
Rotarian Robin Sherwood and Volunteer Karl Vidal were a familiar site for Garage Sale shoppers at their cash station in the Curling Rink at our Annual Rotary Garage Sale. 
Irene Smith presented on the history of Rotary Anns in Vermilion. She is the last of the original Vermilion Rotary Ann Club.
 
Thank you so much to the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce for the awarding our club with the Not-For-Profit Organization Award for 2023. We can't do the work we do without all the support we receive from our community, so thank you to everyone who supports our efforts!  
A very pleasant surprise at Fall Assembly!
 
During the 2022-2023 Rotary year, the club donated the highest per capita Annual Fund giving in the District to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.
 
The club also was acknowledged for our contributions to the End Polio Now; Countdown to History Campaign
 
 
At November 7, 2019 mornings meeting Harvest Gala Chairman Shawn Jacula announced to the club that we raised an impressive $55,000 at Saturday’s event!

Following a great discussion at our morning meeting February 9th, the Rotary Club of Vermilion voted to commit $75,000 to the Living Well Capital Campaign to support the modernization project of the Vermilion Valley Lodge.  An investment in our seniors community!

This morning we welcomed Stuart Pauls to our club!
Governor Laura Morie toured many of the community projects of our club.  Highlights were the Heritage Park Community Oven, The Rotary Lookout (pictured with President Dawn Riley), and the headquarters of Books For Belize (pictured with Rotarian Robin Sherwood).
 
District Governor Laura spoke about Foundation, Polio Plus, and the positive impact the youth in our district are having on our communities during her Official Visit to the Club!

We were provided an educational and informative presentation on the Outreach School by Derek Collins, Principal.

Rotary supports our local schools and College through their Student Award programs.  Congratulations to Michael Menzies, recipient of St Jerome's Rotary Club of Vermilion Award for his good academic standing and exceptional attitude and behavior in school and the community!

Our club welcomed Colton Wynnychuk back from his International Student Exchange.  Colton will provide his formal presentation to the Club on his exchange experience in August.
The Club was thrilled to welcome Lori (Jacula) Meyer who was our Outbound Exchange Student to South Africa in 1994/95.  Lori extended her appreciation to the Club for the Exchange experience and noted how it had changed her life.  Lori currently resides in Vietnam with her husband and three children, where she and her husband Kevin work in the geology field. 
Congratulations to President Dawn and the 2015-16 leadership team of our club!
