Club News: August 21st,  2024

Hello fellow Rotarians!

Thoughts for the week:

*****Our program this week is an update from Bob Saunders and Jodi Capps on the Capitol Campaign of the Liberty Parks and Rec Foundation.

**** We have been notified that there is additional distric grant money available, so we will push to see if we can move our school project forward!!

*********BRING FOOD !  We are collecting food items (individual sized bags of snacks such as goldfish or pretzels, full sized jars of peanut butter and jelly) to help Feed Northland Kids stock food pantries at local schools. We will be collecting these items throughout the month of August – don’t forget to grab these items at the store and bring them to the next meeting!

******Happy dollars this month will support our Hillcrest  Apartment which is currently being cleaned and restocked so that it is ready to welcome the next family.

Have a wonderful week!

NEWS & UPDATES
New Caused Based Rotary Club D6040
I am pleased and excited to announce we have chartered a new club in our district.

Rotary International notified me Thursday they have received the charter application for the "Kansas City Metro Rotary Club to End Homelessness."

This is a Cause-Based club. Meaning it is focused solely on the cause of homelessness for its service projects, fundraising etc. Most of the chartering members (27 charter members. The club is up to 30 members currently) are new to Rotary and represent a dozen or so homeless advocacy organizations throughout the metro area.  It is unique in our district in others way as well. Most of the members are under 40, female and more diverse than the typical club in our district.
They will meet on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at different homeless service locations and will incorporate a service project at that location each meeting.

Our club will be sponsoring a table at the Foundation Dinner. Contact Foundation Chair, Pat Knauss, if you are interested in joining the group.
