Introducing the Sowams Heritage Area
Dr. David Weed is a clinical psychologist, who, after retiring from 33 years at the Corrigan Mental Health Center, served as Executive Director of Partners for a Healthier Community from 2007 to 2017. He became interested in the Pokanoket Tribe and the history of the 17th century in and around his hometown of Warren, RI, and launched the SowamsHeritageArea.org website. Dr. Weed has been working to create a new National Heritage Area encompassing nine communities between Bristol and Providence, R.I. that highlight the unique history of this area. |
