Eloise Advises

Eloise Speaks, We Listen

Sunrise member Eloise Tweeten, Principal with Tweeten Eldercare Services held our focused attention advising us on planning for our residential location as we mature.

Offering a recent AARP guide as her outline, she reminded us that housing and transportation are the top priorities in seniors mind.

Eloise advised to to look ahead, assess our homes for accessibility friendly issues such as stairs and bathrooms.

Take a closer look at your preparation index in the AARP article:

http://aarp.org/homefit

Eloise is a seasoned Professional.  Her knowledge of Sonoma County senior living options is unmatched.  She suggests the AARP guide for many constructive conversations.

On a regular basis, our resident photo pro Warren Smith, submits pictures of what is going on at the weekly meetings. You can always find the most recent pictures at the websites photo journal called "Meeting Sighting" Please note that all the meeting photos for the entire Rotary year are at this location with the most recent on the last page.

Thanks for all the great pictures Warren! Link to Meeting Sightings. The most recent are on the last page!

New Foundation Honorees

Rotary Foundation Enhancers

Sunrise Foundation Director Randy Seelye presents club members Jennifer Adams and Scott Holder their latest recognition for support to The Rotary Foundation.

Scott generated funds toward Polio Plus.  Jennifer received her initial Paul Haris Fellow. Jenifer is President Nominee for 2022-23.  Each of your donations make possible local and world-wide programs of Rotary International, such as our Matching Grants to Nicaragua, and District Grants to Elsie Allen High School Performing Arts and Agriculture Education.

Randy has valuable information on an opportunity to reach your next level of support.  Ask him!

New Gen Peacebuilders

NEW GEN Peacebuilders continues building bridges, spanning conflicting circumstances and sustainable solutions.

Santa Rosa is fortunte to have 35 students participating from 12 high schools.  7 are attending Elsie Allen, and three Interact members, Rob Giacomini with brothers John and Logan Leddy are New Gen alums.  Sunrisers Merle Hayes, Lizzie Colbert and Jack Strange have been Mentors, and Eloise Tweeten is a current Cohort enter..

As an example of the depth and catalyzing effect the peace builders have, take a look at the project generated by a New Gen Cojort:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIVjO0toluo&t=60s

Students select their respective topics on conflict, informed by the guiding principles of NEW GEN. The collaborative results illustrate

the creative, powerful principle:  Rotary Connects the World!

Ask Eloise how her Mentees are doing.

CONVENTION COUNTDOWN
Convenient cuisine
When you’re in Honolulu for the Rotary International Convention from 6 to 10 June, you’ll find that the city offers an incredible array of great restaurants. And you won’t have to venture far from the Hawaii Convention Center to get a delicious meal.
For breakfast, Aloha Kitchen has standard fare such as eggs Benedict and omelets, but the house specialty is soufflé pancakes, an airy take on the breakfast classic. If you’re up for a slightly longer walk (1.2 miles), the Nook offers some exotic twists on your morning meal, such as orange blossom pancakes, coconut caramel waffles, and mochi waffles made with rice flour.
Nearby lunch options span the globe, from Kickin’ Kajun to Hokkaido Ramen Santouka and Do-ne Japanese Food. For dinner, Korean Kang Nam is a barbecue restaurant known for its yakiniku (grilled meat). Get a group together and order one of the combination platters.
For classic brewpub food — which in Hawaii means poke and seared ahi salad along with chicken wings, burgers, and pizza — try the Waikiki Brewing Co. and be sure to sample the beers.
And for a cool snack between breakout sessions, head out for shave ice, a Hawaiian treat, at Snow Factory and Ice Monster Hawaii.
