Midori Verity is the founder of Midori Verity, Int'l, best-selling author of 'Secrets to a Kickass Marriage,' and a Certified Behavioral Specialist. She also hosts, 'The Kickass Relationship Show.'

From the Rotary Club of Sebastopol, Bob described his experience in the recently completed Peddle for Polio bike ride from Crescent City to Petaluma that included numerous interesting stops along the way.

He provided highlights from the Atlanta RI Convention and information on the District Conference to be held at McClellan Air Force Base May 18-20, 2018.

Bob introduced Lt. Governor Valerie Hulsey from the Rotary Club of the Valley of the Moon (above) who provided additional District 5130 information from her perspective.

Sunriser Mike Kelly, radio host on local station KRSO, announces the station's 80th year on the air with a special gift to Rotary.  And if Mike has been broadcasting for all those many years, Wow!  He looks great for a man who has held a major communications position since childhood!  Congratulations KRSO and Mike Kelly!

Panhandler, Kent Seegmiller, known to Sunrisers as the guy who regularly totes a frying pan around breakfast tables, pushing it under the noses of Rotarians, who have been recognized for various honors making it easy for them to pay up, is now the new best friend of all who know him.  Seegmiller emerged victorious in the highly contested bidding for a Rotary "basket" featuring a gourmet Chinese dinner for eight at the home of prominent Rotarians of the Santa Rosa club, which was brought to the Sunrise meeting by District Governor Bob Rogers.

Pot stickers, spicy lemon chicken sticks, Mongolian lamb with vegetable pancakes, hot and sour salmom with Chinese cabbage, jasmine tea and plum wine are some of the many courses to be enjoyed by Seegmiller guests.  Sunrisers sent a basket filled with chocolates, coffee and other delicacies with the District Gov to be auctioned off at his next speaking engagement.

One can see by Kent's sly smile above that he is already salivating in expectation of the coveted dinner delicacies he has won.

Every September Sunrise Rotarians descend on Finley Center to dispense beer, bratwurst, potato salad and all the fixings to approximately 100 seniors for the annual Octoberfest celebration.  Spearheaded by Sunrisers Eloise Tweeten and Jennifer Adams, Rotarians grill, chill, serve and scrub up when the festivities are done.

Fortunately the feline above is a wood carvers dream, and Rich and Betsy Randolph's safety net.  A photo op at the Barry Kirchner Wildlife Sanctuary in Durham, Butte County CA, the lion represents the Sanctuary's commitment to rescuing special needs hard to place animals.  The sanctuary was one of several on the Redwood Empire Model T Club Tour in the area last week.

This live webcam stream from the Space Station in orbit is in the most recent addition to the Chico Air Museum.  With air and space exploration displays, the museum chronicles Chico's role in training 5,500 Army Air Corps Cadets for WWII flight service.  The museum affords a first class collection of actual craft and interactive displays to touch and go yourself.

Peggy Rogers, wife of District Governor Bob Rogers, is currently heading a program to bring awareness of the often overlooked but very prevalent issue of domestic violence in the US, as well as throughout the world to the attention of Rotarians.  Beginning in the teen years and related to the issue of bullying, violence at the hands of an intimate partner is often overlooked and escalates over time.  

Contrary to uninformed assumptions, domestic violence crosses all ethnic, social and economic barriers and can only be effectively addressed through awareness, education and anger management.  Children in homes troubled by domestic violence will often act out with similar violent behavior in later life.

Sunrise Board Member Jennifer Adams will be the club contact for further information on this issue that Mrs. Rogers is bringing to the awareness of Rotary clubs.
