Peggy Rogers, wife of District Governor Bob Rogers, is currently heading a program to bring awareness of the often overlooked but very prevalent issue of domestic violence in the US, as well as throughout the world to the attention of Rotarians. Beginning in the teen years and related to the issue of bullying, violence at the hands of an intimate partner is often overlooked and escalates over time.
Contrary to uninformed assumptions, domestic violence crosses all ethnic, social and economic barriers and can only be effectively addressed through awareness, education and anger management. Children in homes troubled by domestic violence will often act out with similar violent behavior in later life.
Sunrise Board Member Jennifer Adams will be the club contact for further information on this issue that Mrs. Rogers is bringing to the awareness of Rotary clubs.
