Percy Page Rotary Interact visit to Ronald McDonald House

The Rotary Interact Club Percy Page School went to Ronald MacDonald House on December 12, 2024 to provide, prepare, serve, and clean up for the Home For Dinner program for the evening.

They made a great supper featuring vegetarian and Italian sausage beef lasagnas, Ceasar salad and cookies for dessert. The RMH residents really appreciated the complimentary dinner prepared and served with many smiles.

The RMH Programs and Family Services Coordinator Jenna Black provided a very good tour of RMH, highlighting their well designed home away from home for sick kids and their families, the Magic Room, and told a few touching stories. Including the story of the young girl that was a big Taylor Swift fan, who they gave a great big Swiftie party for when she was given only a few weeks to live.
Thanks to Kyra Briske our Percy Page Rotary Interact Teacher, and Rotarian Carin Jansen van Vuuren for their help on the day, and keeping the girls focused on the tasks at hand. And the Rotary Club of Edmonton Strathcona for providing the groceries for the day. A great way to celebrate the Holiday Season and give back to the community. Making the World a Better Place.

Rosslyn Scouts Donation to Kids Kottage

Rosslyn Scout Leaders Amy and Russel with Amanda Adkins from Kids Kottage

We were glad to hear that the Rosslyn Scouts, upon hearing about our club’s donation to Kids Kottage, also decided to make a donation of clothing and toys. Their leader Russell Bridgeman told us that Kids Kottage is located right in their neighbourhood and their members from Cubs all the way up to Rovers were happy to help.
Christmas Dinner and Donation to Kids Kottage

Our club enjoyed a delicious meal and some wonderful entertainment at our Christmas Dinner which was held at Manila Grill this year.

We were also thanked by Amanda Adkins, Development Director from Kids Kottage for our donations of clothing, toys and cash.  She told us that Kids Kottage provides a frontline shelter caring for children in crisis due to being homeless, in poverty or suffering trauma. The children can range in age from babies to ten years of age. Kids Kottage takes them in and tries to get them and their families the help they need.

Holiday Hamper Program

The holidays can be a financially challenging time for many and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) community is no exception.
Since 2015, through the support of public donations, Support Our troops has worked with the Royal Canadian Chaplain Services across the country to provide holiday hampers to military members and families in need.
A few of our members and friends of members contributed this year spearheaded by Maritza Meneses Leach
Interact Club Visit to Ronald McDonald House

The Rotary Interact Club of Elder Dr. Francis Whiskeyjack High School, the brand-new Southeast Edmonton high school sponsored and advised by the Rotary Club of Edmonton Strathcona, went to Ronald McDonald House for the Home For Dinner Program on December 6th.

They provided the groceries, prepared the excellent vegetarian and beef chilis , and served the dinner for the 80 to 100 residents at RMH. They had a great tour of RMH and appreciated that it is the home away from home for many families who travel to Edmonton from all over Western Canada for the excellent pediatric medical services.

The Rotary Interact Club members did a great job, and plan to visit RMH in the spring for another Home For Dinner evening. Thanks to our Rotary Interact teachers Pearl Wielki and Jorg Bauer, and our Rotary drivers for the day Vince and Ann Campbell and Ken Germain.

This new Rotary Interact Club has over 25 active members and has our Rotary Club Interact Advisors Chelsea Leach and Eric Germain to help them on their journey of making their school, community, and the world a better place, while having fun and developing friendships.

Start with Mothers, Amarok Society,  Year of Hope Campaign

If you believe in education as a human right,
this is your chance to make the biggest impact.

We're bringing our model of education where the most children need it – and every dollar you donate will be matched.
Every dollar counts double, as your donation helps us swing open school doors in Nigeria and India.

You'll have twice the impact as you support mothers in transforming their communities - and becoming leaders.

Your gift will go twice as far as it reaches more and more children across the globe - and makes 2025 the Year of Hope.

This is a crucial moment- our chance to spread a mothers-first education to two new countries.

This holiday season, please give the gift of education

Please visit our website at www.amaroksociety,org to donate

Funds matched up to $65,000- Help us to Raise $130.000.
