Representatives from Rotary clubs worldwide will gather in Chicago 10-15 April to consider changes to the policies that guide Rotary International and its member clubs.
Many of this year’s proposed changes are designed to increase membership by giving clubs greater flexibility in the timing and the nature of their meetings. Other proposals would amend membership requirements.
The Rotary Foundation and UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education are offering up to 10 scholarships for graduate study at UNESCO-IHE's Delft campus in the Netherlands. The aim is to increase the number of trained professionals who can devise, plan, and implement water and sanitation solutions in developing areas. Interact clubs are making a positive difference in schools and communities around the world. Leaders of sponsor Rotary clubs and districts should make sure their Interact clubs get the recognition they deserve by verifying that they qualify for a Presidential Citation.
First, ensure that the Interact club status is active in Rotary's database by checking the Listing of Club-Sponsored Organizations report in Rotary Club Central. If a sponsored club is not listed, submit the Interact Club Certification Form by 1 March.

A new email purporting to be from Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair Ray Klinginsmith is targeting Rotary members. The email falsely claims that members can become End Polio Now ambassadors if they email club information to a Gmail address within 48 hours.
The fraudulent email has the subject line “BECOME AN END POLIO AMBASSADOR” and is sent from a fake email address.
This is a scam. Rotary staff is working to resolve the issue. Avoid being the victim of scams by deleting any email that appears suspicious.

The RMH experience for everyone is very special, especially for our Interact Club members who met and played with the kids and families. We plan to go to Hope Mission and prepare, serve , and cleanup for dinner on April 23.

The Interact Club ran several successful fundraisers, including the Halloween Scary Movie, Christmas Candy Cane event, Valentine Flower-grams (courtesy of 100 roses provided by Heather de Kok’s Flower Shop). The Rotary Interact Club plans to keep busy to end of the school year.
On Tuesday, we were treated to a presentation by Past President Stephan Van Vuuren, pictured, on the recently completed trip to South Africa, to visit various Rotary Clubs, the New Hope School, and do some sightseeing along the way.
Eight local Rotarians, including Terry Drader, past district governor, along with their wives and friends, for a total of eighteen people, made a trip to South Africa. They visited with fellow Rotarians in Kruger National Park, Livingston Zambia, and Pretoria. They first attended a BBQ with fellow Rotarians in the National Park, where the people were the ones inside the electrified fence.
In addition, they met with more fellow Rotarians in Zambia and had a chance to see Victoria Falls. They also visited the New Hope School for mentally or physically disabled children, from all over South Africa, located just outside Pretoria, where Harald Kukertz presented a five thousand dollar (52,000 rand) donation from our club. This donation will be used to provide transportation for the children.
Our group was treated to a musical concert by the children, of which Stephan played a short video, and gave out Canadian flags to all of the children. This donation was also featured in the local paper. They finished up with a wonderful meal and meeting with fellow Rotarians in Pretoria, including a chance to do some lawn bowling, and tour the many beautiful scenic areas nearby.

Vince and Ken were able to deliver 7 adult sized wheelchairs to an overjoyed group from the Equipment Program at the ALS Society of Alberta. Their warehouse is a busy place with storage and all sorts of equipment in various stages being readied for use when a client requires it.
The chairs are supplied courtesy of the Rotary Club of Edmonton Strathcona.
They are identical to the 2000 wheelchairs our club has supplied over the last 8 years, around the world. More chairs will be delivered in the next 2 weeks to complete the two year program supporting local mobility needs.
Petra Remy, from the Edmonton Rotary Club, attended our Tuesday meeting to personally invite us to attend their 100th Anniversary Gala Dinner to be held on 23 April at the Westin Hotel downtown.
RI President KR Ravindran will be delivering the keynote speech. It promises to be an entertaining time for all. They are hoping to see as many past and present members and friends in attendance as possible.
