RCCHP is proud to support this scholarship programme established by the Rotary Club Los Altos Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. The scholarships provide 1 year of school supplies, school uniform and textbooks to students of Dr Armando Sanchez Montes elementary school in Xecol, Quetzaltenango, Guatemala.
The Covid pandemic has brought loss of work and income to many of the families this school serves. This situation has therefore made scholarships even more needed. These scholarships encourage families to keep their children in school where they can develop the tools they will need for a successful future.
As in much of the world Covid numbers are currently increasing in Guatemala. Vaccination and a return to normal life are a long way off for this country. In the meantime, Dr Armando Sanchez Montes school tries to keep its students safe by strengthening their sanitary measures (alcohol stations, facemasks, limited schedule) plus working in hybrid mode with some students in class and others studying at home.
