SERVICE DAY
April 13, 2022

Thanks to all for your assistance with the Layette Project on April 13, 2022! One of our big annual community service projects, the Layette Project, to benefit new mothers and thereby promoting better health of their infants is nearing completion for this year by your assistance in assembling the gift bags. After initial setbacks such as the announcement that we would not be sending bags to Nicaragua due to internal turmoil and encountering “supply chain” issues with ordering the items for the bags, we expect our final delivery of items this week and plan for distribution in Honduras soon!

Big thanks to several club members: Dana Timaeus for taking the initiative to contact the Rotary Club of Roatan to receive and aid in distribution of the layette bags in their locale; Jennifer Gregory for her leadership and direction with the project; Nikki Gonzalez and Jennifer for scouring websites and local stores tirelessly searching for the objects needed to fill the bags; to Jacque Chapman for sharing the plans for filling the bags; to Sharon McCabe, Sheree Pierce & Deborah Drago for preparing the items for assembly; and to the Elegante Hotel staff for their earnest watch on the delivery of a shipment and directing the items to us immediately. It takes everyone working together to have a “job well done”!

Assisting two other local non-profits with their work made the day complete!

Rotarians assembled safe sex kits with educational materials to be distributed by Legacy Healthcare and 150 hygiene bags being distributed for homeless ministries.

It was another great day at Rotary!
