
Dr. Sidney Valentine became the fourth President of Lamar Institute of Technology in August of 2022.
Prior to this appointment Dr. Valentine was hired as the Associate Vice President of Industrial Engineering Technology at York Technical College in June of 2011. He was given the opportunity in July of 2012, to serve in a dual capacity as Interim Associate Vice President of Corporate and Continuing Education.
Prior to working at York Technical College, he spent 5 years at the Community and Technical College System of WV, where he served as the Director of Workforce and Economic Development and Director of Technical Program Development. Before moving to the system office in WV, Dr. Valentine held a dual role at Bridgemont Community and Technical College, where he was the Director of Workforce Development, as well as an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering Technology. He has held a variety of positions within industry, including Electrical Engineering Supervisor, Electrical Design Engineer and as a Process Control Engineer.
Dr. Valentine also has served as the President of the National Coalition of Advanced Technology Centers (NCATC) as well as the Chair of the Charlotte Regional Workforce Development Partnership (CRWDP).
Dr. Valentine has a PhD in Computer Engineering, an M.S. in Computer Engineering, both from The University of South Carolina, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering for The West Virginia University Institute of Technology.
