"Educate. Empower. Elevate."
LaQuita Thompson is from Morton, Texas, where she participated in all sports and was a member of the 1986-87 First Girls State Champtionship Basketball team as a freshman at Morton High School.  LaQuita received such honors as MVP, Best Hustler, Best Free-Throw Percentage and The Best All Around Female Athlete and attended the Track State Meet, competing in the Shot-put.

She graduated from Abilene Christian University and continued her basketball career with the Lady Wildcats attending the NCAA Division II tournament twice and receiving her Bachelor’s in Biology. She attended the WNBA's Detroit Shock try-out camp in its first year and the ABL training camp in the early 90's. Later she played in a Semi-Professional Basketball league, WUBA, with the Houston Blaze, until a recurring knee injury ended her career as a player.

She is a certified science teacher with the Board of Education in Texas and taught Integrated Physics and Chemistry for six years. She is a member of NACA. She is also a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer and a member of WBCA (Women's Basketball Coaches Association).

 

LaQuita is the first female coach in the Fort Bend Independent School District and in the State of Texas to coach high school boy’s basketball at Hightower High School.
