John with Citizens on Patrol presented to the Rotary Club this last Tuesday, and provided Rotary with the groups activities in the area, the need to refurbish the signs around the community, what volunteers can expect to do, and how they work as a team with the RCMP. Our Corporate Award for the fishing derby this year goes to Signs and Things, who always comes to our aid when we need signs! Rotarians Alex and Dale present the most unique trophy in the Peace to the ladies at Signs and Things!

Today the Noon Rotary Club was pleased to present the Networks organization with a cheque for $1000 to help fund their vital programs and pantry. We are astonished to learn how many family and individuals they support, and the projects they undertake. Networks is always looking for volunteers, so if you can help them out, they are happy to have the assistance.

Dawson Creek Rotary had the pleasure of welcoming Britney to the Club, becoming our first new member of 2024!

Rotarians are pleased to annually support the Warm Toes and Hot Lunch programs at our local Schools!  These programs provide a meal to those that might go without, and footwear to those that might not have appropriate shoes for this weather.

Did you know the nominal fee we assign for the community dinner isn't for Rotary?  This year Step up and Ride received 100% of the proceeds from the dinner, compliments of Rotarian Alex.

One of Rotary International's core efforts is the elimination of Polio worldwide. Today the Rotary Club of Dawson Creek president Jill recognized our member Roxanne (left) for her personal contribution to the cause. She is one of many local Rotary members that makes a real world difference by donating directly to our Polio efforts.

Both the Rotary Club, and Rotary Club Sunrise each purchased a bed for the Palliative Care Society, and presented the Cheque today at the Dawson Co-op Mall. We are happy to support such a valuable organization in our community.

The annual Rotary Ice Fishing Derby goes again this year on the Auction Start Weekend. New this year is a guaranteed minimum 300 prize for someone, even if no fish are caught. A delegation from the Club attended a 2 day conference in Edmonton to network with other clubs, and leran about new initiative and progress on existing endeavors.

As we resume our traditional activities post-pandemic, a reminder to Rotarians to sign up for our annual community events by returning the form provided at the May 3 meeting, or emailing the club. Please pick AT LEAST FOUR events you can participate in to reduce the workload on those members that volunteer for all of them. And remember we have internal events, such as the Christmas Fellowship Social, President's Night, and Baseball game vs FSJ to participate in as well!

The Noon Club is pleased to present Paul DeCosta of the Sportsman Club a cheque to contribute to the expansion of recreation opportunities in our community.

Rotary has contributed to the ski hill, nordic trails, climbing wall, splash park and others in recent years.

Continuing our 70th Anniversary, the Dawson Creek Rotary Club is pleased to provided some funding to the Bear Mountain Ski Hill, one of our communities most valuable assets.

In Person Meetings have Moved for the summer!  Starting July 20th, and every 2nd Tuesday after for the Summer, we're at Sudeten Hall, 1901-Alaska Ave.  Coffee and water Available and your welcome to bring your own lunch.  PLEASE NOTE:  Webex broadcasts will be suspended unless specifically requested by a member that wants to attend, but can't.

You may choose to join us online via webex Tuesday, or in person at KPAC. Mask and social distancing measures in effect.

No food or beverage service, but feel free to bring your own.

We are pleased that the Rotary Clubs of Dawson Creek naming of the park that connects 17th street to Pioneer Village was accepted by City Council, and is henceforth to be known as "Ken Haverland Park".

Rotary Clubs of Dawson Creek's Paving of the Walking Path is Underway! After many years of use, the paths are receiving a new asphalt surface, ensuring many more years of enjoyment. Special shout out to Rotarians Don Bourassa (noon club) and Joe Judge (sunrise club) for their spearheading, Trails Canada for their matching funds, and Peter Bros Paving undertaking the work.

Good news!  Trails Canada has matched Rotary's financial contribution, and paving is likely to commence in the next two weeks.
