(Noon Hybrid Meeting) TOM SELINGER

PORTRAITS OF AMERICAN DIPLOMACY: 250 YEARS OF DIPLOMATS IN SERVICE TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE

Oct. 13, 2026

This meeting will be held at Manning's Steaks and Spirits, 51 W Dry Creek Ct, Littleton, CO  80120.  Please arrive by 12:00 noon to socialize and order your meal.  The Rotary program will start at 12:25 PM and end at approximately 1:30 PM.

Tom Selinger served 27 years in the U.S. Foreign Service with overseas tours in Kyrgyzstan, Denmark, Croatia, Albania, and Trinidad and Tobago and portfolios ranging from security cooperation to American citizen services. In his retirement, he works for the Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training, a nonprofit where he directs outreach efforts to promote public understanding of the work of America's diplomats. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, he served as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Army, including combat service with the 101st Airborne Division during Operation Desert Storm, and worked as a locally-employed political specialist for the Canadian government at their Consulate in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His interest in international affairs began during his time in Belgium as a Rotary International Exchange Student. Tom is married to fellow diplomat Kirsten Selinger and has four children and three grandchildren.

"Portraits of American Diplomacy: 250 Years of Diplomats in Service to the American People"
Back in 1776, America's diplomats helped win the American Revolution, and over the past 250 years, they have continued to make our country safer, stronger, and more prosperous. Tom Selinger, a retired Foreign Service Officer, will share stories of how our diplomats have saved American citizens in peril, opened markets for products from our farms and factories, and built alliances to ensure our collective security and advance our ideals. He'll highlight diplomats from Colorado and how their work has benefited communities across the state.

(Evening In-person Meeting) MICHAEL GORDON

THE ROTARY FOUNDATION

Oct. 20, 2026

This meeting will be held at Manning's Steaks and Spirits, 51 W Dry Creek Ct, Littleton, CO  80120.  Please arrive by 6:00 PM to socialize and order your meal.  The Rotary program will start at 6:25 PM and end at approximately 7:30 PM.

Michael Gordon believes that a strong social and economic network has the potential to change people’s lives. After completing his Ph.D. at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), he specifically sought out opportunities, and employment, in education (UNLV, Public Education Foundation) and economic development (Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance) to achieve this aim. During his time at the LVGEA, the organization was successful in luring the Raiders football team to Las Vegas, starting the movement in getting the Formula One race and Athletics baseball team to find a home in Las Vegas.

While in Las Vegas, Michael was active in the non-profit sector receiving the Vegas Inc. “Volunteer of the Year” award for his years of service on numerous boards. Since relocating to Colorado, Michael has joined, or been elected to, the boards of Rotary Club of Broomfield, the Broomfield Area Chamber of Commerce and FRIENDS of Broomfield.

He has served Rotary at the club, District, Zone, and International levels. Michael served District 5300 as Assistant Governor, District Trainer, District Conference chair, and Vocational Training chair and has served District 5450 as the chair of the Rotary Scholarship committee. Additionally, he served as the Assistant Rotary Coordinator (Membership) for Zones 26/27 from 2022-24. On the international level, he served as a member of the RI Joint Learning Committee which develops curriculum for the Rotary Learning Center courses on MyRotary.

He met his wife Amanda when they both served as charter members of the Rotaract Club of Las Vegas. She later served as a District Rotaract Representative and attended four International Conventions. Says Michael: “She is a better Rotarian than me – and she isn’t even a member of Rotary!”

As a Rotary Foundation alumnus, Michael strongly believes in the impact every Rotarian can have through their continued donations to the “engine that drives Rotary service worldwide”.

Together, the couple supports the Foundation as Benefactors, Bequest Society members, and Major Donors.

Rotary Book Club
Nov. 13, 2026 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Our book for November is Secret of Secrets by Dan Brown.  Charlie Vail will be our host at his home.  Phil Cernanec wil be our discussion leader.

The novel unfolds across a single frantic day, dragging Harvard symbologist Robert  Langdon and noetic scientist Katherine Solomon from a prestigious lecture at Prague Castle into the hidden corridors of a CIA operation that hijacks the study of human consciousness.

Ancient mysticism, stolen research, and a city of spires become the backdrop for a race to expose what happens when the mind’s eye is weaponized.  The Secret of Secrets blends thriller pacing with themes of human consciousness, ethics of technology, and national security.

Please sign up on-line or call LaDonna 303-995-2637 or Phil .720-254-6097   Enjoy the book and we hope you can join our discussion.
