THE LOST ART OF THE LEGITIMATE ARGUMENT
Sep. 15, 2026
This meeting will be held at Manning's Steaks and Spirits, 51 W Dry Creek Ct, Littleton, CO 80120. Please arrive by 6:00 PM to socialize and order your meal. The Rotary program will start at 6:25 PM and end at approximately 7:30 PM. Bob Weber was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland in the community of Howard Park. He attended Loyola High School and later spent three years in the army where his tour of duty took him to Okinawa for two years. After his military career, Bob earned a BA in English from Missouri State University and an MAR in Religious Studies from Harding School of Theology. He spent nearly thirty-eight years in ministry working in Massachusetts and New Jersey. Near the end of his ministerial career, he added an MA in Professional Writing from New England College and has since published a book. He and his wife Janet have been married for forty-eight years; recently they moved to Colorado so they could be near their two sons and four grandsons. Combining years of experience communicating ideas behind a lectern, in class, and in small groups, Bob now teaches others how to craft their written and oral messages not only to persuade but to be clear, concise, and memorable. Business success demands it. “Your ability to communicate with others will account for fully 85% of your success in your business and in your life,” Brian Tracy, motivational speaker and author. A major obstacle to success is striving merely for mediocrity. Seeking success with an average ability to communicate limits personal development and stifles potential for excellence. Communicating is one of the X factors a person needs to succeed. Bob can raise anyone’s communication skills to the level of excellence. |

Sep. 18, 2026 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
The book club will be reading Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. "A lone astronaut. An impossible mission. An ally he never imagined. Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission--and if he fails, humanity and Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company. His crewmates dead, his memories fuzzily returning, Ryland realizes that an impossible task now confronts him. Hurtling through space on this tiny ship, it's up to him to puzzle out an impossible scientific mystery--and conquer an extinction-level threat to our species. And with the clock ticking down and the nearest human being light-years away, he's got to do it all alone. Or does he? An irresistible interstellar adventure as only Andy Weir could imagine it, Project Hail Mary is a tale of discovery, speculation, and survival to rival The Martian-while taking us to places it never dreamed of going" -- from the publisher. Our discussion leader and host will be Lisa Bush. Her address is 9456 W Quarles Pl, Littleton 80128. You can sign up online or call LaDonna at 303-995-2637 or Lisa at 303-906-3200. We hope you will join us. Enjoy reading the book. LaDonna

THE ROTARY FOUNDATION
Oct. 20, 2026
Michael Gordon believes that a strong social and economic network has the potential to change people’s lives. After completing his Ph.D. at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), he specifically sought out opportunities, and employment, in education (UNLV, Public Education Foundation) and economic development (Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance) to achieve this aim. During his time at the LVGEA, the organization was successful in luring the Raiders football team to Las Vegas, starting the movement in getting the Formula One race and Athletics baseball team to find a home in Las Vegas. While in Las Vegas, Michael was active in the non-profit sector receiving the Vegas Inc. “Volunteer of the Year” award for his years of service on numerous boards. Since relocating to Colorado, Michael has joined, or been elected to, the boards of Rotary Club of Broomfield, the Broomfield Area Chamber of Commerce and FRIENDS of Broomfield. He has served Rotary at the club, District, Zone, and International levels. Michael served District 5300 as Assistant Governor, District Trainer, District Conference chair, and Vocational Training chair and has served District 5450 as the chair of the Rotary Scholarship committee. Additionally, he served as the Assistant Rotary Coordinator (Membership) for Zones 26/27 from 2022-24. On the international level, he served as a member of the RI Joint Learning Committee which develops curriculum for the Rotary Learning Center courses on MyRotary. He met his wife Amanda when they both served as charter members of the Rotaract Club of Las Vegas. She later served as a District Rotaract Representative and attended four International Conventions. Says Michael: “She is a better Rotarian than me – and she isn’t even a member of Rotary!” As a Rotary Foundation alumnus, Michael strongly believes in the impact every Rotarian can have through their continued donations to the “engine that drives Rotary service worldwide”. Together, the couple supports the Foundation as Benefactors, Bequest Society members, and Major Donors. |
