Ride Schedule - 2024
  • 2024 Participant Registration Fees
    • 1 Jan - 14 Jan = $35.00 - paid participants receive free tshirt
    • 15 Jan - 15 Mar = $45.00 - paid participants receive free tshirt
    • 16 Mar - 12 Apr = $50.00 - paid participants receive free tshirt
    • 13 Apr - 19 Apr = $50.00 
    • RIDE DAY = $55.00
    • Child 12 and under (birthdate before 19 April 2012) rides 10-mile ride free with paid adult participant
  • Participants are invited to attend the Hero BBQ honoring our local First Responders who support our event
    • Hero BBQ will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 522 TX Hwy 37, Mount Vernon, Texas (Activity Building behind Sanctuary), event hours are Friday, 19 April 6:00p - 7:30p
    • Participant packets can be picked up at the Hero BBQ 
  • Sign in, late registration and participant packet pickup
    • Registration will be at Smokey Row, near Houston @ Scott street just south of downtown square
    • Begin at 7 a.m. Saturday, 20 April 
  • Staggered start times beginning 9 a.m. from Smokey Row Sign (S Houston Street @ Main)
  • Routes will be well marked and there will be rest stops approximately every five to ten miles for each route
  • Excellent SAG support will be provided on all routes

T-Shirts
  • To receive a T-shirt, participants must register on or before 12 April
NOTE: If you miss the T-Shirt deadline, a limited number of T-shirts should be available FOR PURCHASE the day of the ride
 
Participant information
  • In lieu of lunch, each paid participant will receive a $7.00 voucher which can be used at participating local restaurants on Saturday, 20 April (coupon will have map and list of participating restaurants)
  • Free beer provided by Budweiser and R&K Distributing at the Biergarten after the ride
  • Showers available (Duke's Travel Center has agreed to provide showers to participants, you must surrender your bib number to obtain shower)
  • Breakfast for purchase located on or near the square
  • Music near Biergarten located parking lot beside Smokey Row (Houston @ Scott Street)

Helmet requirement
  • All riders are required to wear an ANSI, Snell, ASTM or CPSC-approved helmet while on their bicycle during the Tour de Cypress Tour
Participant Agreement, Waiver & Release of Liability - Digital form must be completed before ride day
 
IN CONSIDERATION of being permitted to participate in any way in any of the Tour de Cypress events (collectively, the “Activity” herein) organized by the Rotary Club of Mount Vernon, their representatives, club members and/or other riders, I, for myself, my personal representatives, assigns, heirs, and next of kin:
  1. Acknowledge, agree and represent that I understand the nature of bicycling, including the Activity, and that I am qualified, in good health, and in proper physical condition to participate in such Activity. I further acknowledge that the Activity will be conducted over public roads and facilities open to the public during the Activity and upon which the hazards of traveling are to be expected. I further agree and warrant that if at any time I believe conditions to be unsafe, I will immediately discontinue further participation in the Activity.
  2. Fully understand that: (a) BICYCLING ACTIVITIES INVOLVE RISKS AND DANGERS OF SERIOUS BODILY INJURY, INCLUDING PERMANENT DISABILITY, PARALYSIS AND DEATH  (“Risks”): (b) these Risks and dangers may be caused by my own actions or inactions, the actions or inactions of others participating in the Activity, the actions or inactions of others not participating in the Activity, the conditions in which the Activity takes place, or the negligence of the Releasees named below (c) there may be other risks and social and economic losses either not known to me or not readily foreseeable at this time, and I fully accept and assume all such risks and all responsibility for loss, costs, and damages I incur as a result of my participation or that of the minor in the Activity. By my participation in any Event, I certify that I am aware of these inherent dangers of bicycle riding.
  3. Hereby release, discharge and covenant not to sue the Mount Vernon Rotary Club, Tour de Cypress events, their respective administrators, directors, agents, officers, successors and assigns, members, event coordinators, volunteers, employees, other participants, any sponsors, advertisers, and, if applicable, owners and/or lessors of premises on which the Activity takes place, (each considered one of the “Releasees” herein) from all liability, claims, demands, losses, or damages on my account caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligence of the Releasees or otherwise, including negligent rescue operations; and I further agree that if, despite this Release, Waiver of Liability, Assumption of Risk, and Indemnity Agreement, I or anyone on my behalf, makes a claim against any of the Releasees, I will indemnify, save, and hold harmless each of the Releasees from any litigation expenses, attorney fees, loss, liability, damage, or cost which any may incur as the result of such claim. Furthermore, I will indemnify, save, and hold harmless the Mount Vernon Rotary Club, Tour de Cypress events, and the Releasees against all claims, including, but not limited to, claims of negligence, unintentional acts, and acts of omission, and any loss or expense which may arise from my participation in any Event.  I understand I am responsible for my own conduct and decisions while participating in a Mount Vernon Rotary Club and/or Tour de Cypress event and further agree that this Waiver & Release shall apply to any claim arising out of my participation in bicycling and non-bicycling activities while a participant in an Event.
 
I am 18 years of age or older, have read and understood the terms of this agreement, understand that I am giving up substantial rights by signing this agreement for myself or my minor child, have signed it voluntarily and without any inducement or assurance of any nature and intend it to be a complete and unconditional release of all liability relating to the bicycling activity to the greatest extent allowed by law. I agree that if any portion of this agreement is held to be invalid, the balance, not withstanding, shall continue in full force and effect.
