Stories
President's Pen

Our two NYSF awardees, Christine Xu and Shayla Platt, spoke at Rotary this week and were outstanding in their enthusiasm and articulation in terms of the opportunities the program has presented to them. It certainly made the Rotarians present very pleased that we had once again participated in this program. Both have indicated they would like to become Friends of Rotary and wish to stay in touch with our club and learn about the programs and activities we participate in.

Calperum weekend at Renmark is coming up – 6th -8th April - and for those planning on doing your bit for the environment and learning more about this amazing property, please give $30 next meeting to John Karran, who has volunteered to do all the cooking and catering for us. Bring towels and sheets or sleeping bags, toiletries, sun protection and hats, suitable shoes, work gloves plus any extra nibbles required. Water available on the property is drinkable. Please let John K know your estimated arrival time so as to ensure there will be someone there to meet you. Those travelling up on Friday afternoon may like to join us for 6pm dinner at the Renmark Hotel. We will be working but having fun at the same time.

We are also pleased to be sponsoring a student to attend the RYPEN camp from 6-8 April 2018 at Nunyarra Camp, Belair. Following the camp we will endeavour to have Olivia attend a meeting and speak to our club on her experience.

Thought for the week:

You may not know what is going to happen when you try, but if you do not try, nothing will happen.

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Affirmation

United in the spirit of Service we value truth, fairness and friendship; and we welcome the opportunity that Rotary gives us to contribute our talents and resources in support of others.

Rotary Club of Adelaide Light Mission Statement

To be recognised as the Service Club of Choice in the Eastern Precinct of Adelaide because we are a Friendly Breakfast Club that appeals to a broad range of busy people who want to make a difference to local and international communities.

Jokes Corner
HOW SMART IS YOUR RIGHT FOOT?

You have to try this. It is absolutely true. I guess there are some things that the brain cannot handle.

This will confuse your mind and you will keep trying over and over again to see if you can outsmart your foot, but, you can't.  It is pre-programmed in your brain!

1. While sitting at your desk, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles...

2. Now, while doing this, draw the number '6' in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction.

And there's nothing you can do about it!
