This week we have a breakfast meeting on Thursday 12 December at 7.15 am at the Stamford Plaza Hotel.  If you are unable to attend the meeting or will have guests attending, please email Fred Field at fieldfro9@adam.com.au or email me at kmball@jelkamain.com or text me on 0402853029 by Wednesday lunchtime so that we can advise the Stamford Plaza about numbers attending.  This will be our last meeting for the year, we reconvene on Thursday 9 January 2020.
 
A reminder that the Annual General Meeting of the Club will be held this week. Nominations are open for all positions on the Board.  Please send me nominations for any of the positions.  Board positions are listed on the side of the newsletter. We also have a guest speaker, Lt. Haydn McComas from Hermitage CFS Brigade, who will outline lessons learned from the QLD bushfire deployments in Nov - Dec 2018.
 
We had a very successful start to our Christmas trees sales fundraiser last Saturday at Bunnings, Kent Town with $1.500 raised. We will be selling trees each weekend until Christmas. We are also selling raffle tickets for a Christmas hamper, kindly donated by Di Lane.
 
Last Friday evening members joined with the Adelaide Rotaract Club at the Arab Steed Hotel for a game of darts for our annual ‘teapot’ challenge event.  It was a very entertaining night as none of us were proficient at darts and the rules we followed assumed a moderate level of proficiency.  However, by the end of the night, Bruce McDonald was able to throw his darts with such skill that our Club was able to win the night and the ‘teapot’ has been returned to the Club for 2020. I attended the Adelaide City Rotaract Club meeting last night and accepted the ‘teapot’ back, on behalf of the Club.

Chairman: Meet/greet speaker for the meeting; introduce and thank speaker. Preparation:- find details about  the speaker prior to the meeting.
Attendance: Set up reception table (attendance sheet; members list – re -payments; guest welcome sheet; money); register member payments/ apologies/ guests.
Hosting: Welcome all at the door; ensure speaker and guests are introduced to appropriate persons.
Furniture: Flags; banner display; raffle balls; collection boxes; Rotary theme banner; gong and hammer; lectern position before and returned after the meeting. Computer set up – Connect to projector. Switch on. Hold function key & press F5 twice.
Bottles/cans: Collect bags of bottles/cans at meeting and take to recycle centre for refund, pass refund and empty bags to David Rowe at next meeting.
Rotaract: Meets alternate Mondays at 6pm (for a 630pm start) at the General Havelock Hotel in Hutt Street.
Bread Run: Sundays, meet outside Romeo's, North Adelaide at 4:55pm

Members rostered for Thursday morning duty are asked to be in attendance by 6.45am

"What are those machetes doing in your car?" asks the cop.

"I juggle them in my act."

"Oh, yeah? Says the doubtful cop. "Let's see you do it.”

The juggler gets out and starts tossing and catching the knives.

Another man driving by slows down to watch. "Wow" says the passer-by. "I'm glad I quit drinking. Look at the test they're giving now!
