The ‘Share the Dignity’ project between Adelaide Light and Adelaide City Rotaract resulted in our nomination for the most outstanding Rotaract/Rotary Partnership in this weekend’s Rotaract Australia Awards. The other contenders are Rotaract Club of Manatuto and Rotary Club of Dili Lafaek in Timor Lesté. Their Manatuto school water project was officially inaugurated in mid September. You may recall our club helped financially with this via Kirsti’s Mum and Dad while District Governor of 9560.
Last Saturday’s ‘Cuppa Conversation’ was highly successful in its revised Chat2Belong format. Nine Rotarians welcomed thirteen new Aussie guests - see photos below. Discussion was animated and informal feedback is very strong. Hutt St CIBO kindly let us take over their back room, a cosy haven on an otherwise drizzly weekend.
I trust you’ve seen the email to members alerting the possibility for any Rotarian to attend a weekend leadership course Nov 5-6 at Charles Campbell College in Paradise (sorry, just the suburb). This internationally recognised, fast-paced course will enhance your skills and Rotary knowledge for excellent future club leaders in our ever changing world. Let me know ASAP, if interested.
Adelaide Light will soon add our annual $1,000 to last week’s Hat Day donation for Australian Rotary Health (ARH) and mental illness solutions for young Australians. Via John Campbell, ARH has also sent Summer Wine Fundraiser forms so you can order various wines before Christmas to further aid research efforts.
About 18 members have registered to come along to our club consultation dinner evening this Thursday 27th at the Naval Military and Air Force Club in Hutt Street. Looking ahead a little, please put Thursday 24 November in your diaries for our Club’s Annual General Meeting for breakfast at the Terrace Hotel.
Di’s volunteers for our next Mile End Bunnings BBQ on Monday 14 November are on track but as always, do let her know if you can help. Kirsti also has this Wednesday’s Fred’s Van session under control but let her know if you’d like to help on one of those 3 weekly outings - allow some lead time as volunteers need safety clearances.
The Uraidla pizza afternoon at ‘Lost in a Forest’ that Rob arranged is coming up on Sunday 6th November. Let him know If you’d like to go and if you need a ride, Rob might even be able to find someone to oblige with that too!
I’ll see many of you Thursday night at the NM&AF Club when we’ll be inducting returning member, Feisar Joya. Beyond this, the next ‘Coffee Conversation’ is 9:30am Thursday 3 November at White Picket café.

Based on previous successes, our District 9510 ARH Committeehas again organised aSpring Wine Offer which has many benefits.
Our extensive list gives you and your friends access to quality branded wines that most likely you already purchase from an outlet, but through our order, the prices are heavily reduced.
The benefit to the purchasers is reduced price.
The benefit to ARH is that based on orders, our wine merchant will donate to Australian Rotary Health - $36 per dozen of labelled wines, and $24 per dozen for cleanskins.
The benefit to your Club is that the orders will be matched to the respective Rotary Clubs that have participated in this campaign, and ARH will record your Club’s share of that donation as part of your ARH fundraising this year.
The orders will close on 7th November, 2022, so please ensure that the completed orders are returned to me by email to john@jcampbell.com.au by that date. We expect that your orders will be available for pick-up on Monday 21st November 2022.
