Stories
President's Pen
Hi, Rotarians and Friends.

Firstly, Rob is completing the Catherine House irrigation at 9:30am this Sunday in Halifax St, can anyone help do some weeding then?  If so ring Rob.

Being an off week, time-advantaged retiree members gathered to converse over coffee as usual last Thursday.  Like our Croquet Club venues and other committee meetings, these are valuable chances to relate and enjoy camaraderie.  Apart from those obvious benefits, they make calls for extra effort easier to bear if required.  After all, service and friendship are the attractive elements of Rotary.

This Thursday is another dinner meeting at Kent Town Hotel but this time our private room is on the 2nd floor.  So, once you’ve parked underneath (off Rundle St, down from the College Rd corner), take the lift up to the ground floor, order your meal/drink from the front bar then take the lift again to the 2nd floor… we’ll welcome you there.

Guest speaker is Brian Harvey, entrancing us with stories of his life and times.  These are often our most enjoyable speakers, no pressure, Brian.  Do let Rob McLennan know if you’re coming… bring streamers, balloons, etc (Brian loves that stuff).

Kirsti’s Community Services team met last week and both Alison and Paul have meetings on the way for Youth and International respectively.  By the time you read this I may have sent you a direct email to stir up final booking at our 29 March Area 12 dinner.  Rob is guest MC, doing his masterful job as usual and otherwise, I’m the lone barracker from our Club… keep me company?

This Saturday 25 March is our next Cuppa Conversation at Ginger’s (109 Goodwood Rd), so let me or Kirsti know if you can join us.  In this context, Alex and Maria have reluctantly taken leave from Club duties until July due to extra heavy work commitments.  They’re keen to return then and we’re equally keen to welcome them back… meanwhile they’ll keep in touch with our wonderful Latino ‘Friends’.

Yvette’s steadily improving and sticking to her physio program with true gritBruce is healing nicely (head, foot and back).  Paul also has challenging back problem, so give them all some cheer when you see them next.  Also, don’t forget to quiz Stuart!

As you’ve heard before,  contact Richard if you fancy a ‘Rotary Club of Adelaide Light' badged polo shirt, rugby jumper or even a dress shirt.   Best not to procrastinate on this one as Richard needs to wrap it up for our members soon.

See you at dinner this Thursday?
Best wishes, John

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Affirmation

United in the spirit of Service we value truth, fairness and friendship; and we welcome the opportunity that Rotary gives us to contribute our talents and resources in support of others.

Rotary Club of Adelaide Light Mission Statement

To have fun and engage interest from new members and friends as we use our strengths for a better world here and abroad - a welcoming, flexible group having fun doing hands-on activities for positive impact.
