This week we have a breakfast meeting on Thursday 12 September at 7.15am at the Stamford Plaza Hotel. If you are unable to attend the meeting please email me at kmball@jelkamain.com or text me on 0402853929 by Wednesday lunchtime so I can advise the Stamford Plaza about numbers attending.
We were all very sorry to hear at our meeting last Wednesday that Past-President Rob McLennan had fallen on holiday in Portugal and was in hospital having a hip replacement operation. We hope that he is out of hospital soon and that he and Sally can enjoy some holiday time while he recuperates.
Last Wednesday night we had a very successful discussion, led by Community Service Director, Julie Campbell, of possible Community Service projects that the Club can undertake during the 2019-20 Rotary year. Projects included volunteering to assist international students get to know Adelaide during their stay here, helping to prepare and cook a meal at Ronald McDonald House, participating in the ‘Share the Dignity’ program to assist women in need, and preparing new gardens for some of the Catherine House premises.
Jim Davies from the Rotary Club of Adelaide Parks has advised about the success of our partnership application for a District Grant to purchase equipment for the SA Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service, Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre. The maximum grant of $5000 was awarded. He commented that the collaboration and partnering involved was significant to the success of the application. I am hopeful that we will be able to continue partnering with other Clubs in this year of ‘Rotary Connects the World’.

If lawyers are disbarred and clergymen defrocked, doesn't it follow that electricians can be delighted, musicians denoted, cowboys deranged, models deposed, tree surgeons debarked, and dry cleaners depressed?
