Last Saturday’s Cuppa Conversation session at Bocelli’s on Wakefield/Hutt Street had an excellent turnout as you can see from the photo below. It was noisy but convivial and many close conversations were had, which is exactly the intent. Well done to all involved. 👏
This Thursday evening 25th May at the Kent Town Hotel, our guest speaker is Shayla Platt, whom some of you may recall from her NYSF sponsorship through our club a few years ago. Shayla is in her final year of Science at Adelaide Uni with a strong interest in human biochemical and neurobiological activity as well as an abiding involvement with Orangutans in Borneo. Come along and you’ll hear more about all this, while also experiencing Shayla’s infectious energy.
Looking ahead, Thursday 1st June is a mid-morning coffee conversation at White Picket café and as Carol remarked to me over coffee there last week… we are fortunate to have such a happy club across all ages and backgrounds! 😊
At the following Thursday breakfast on Thursday 8th we’ll hear some facts about the proposed ‘Voice’ to Federal parliament from two young lawyers, Harper and Will. Rotary encourages Diversity, Equity and Inclusion but is also apolitical, so this topic will avoid the politics to just present facts that may help clarify the Referendum picture.
For your diaries, don’t forget our District 9510 Rotary Volunteering Expo on 3rd June 2023 in Bonython Hall. This is free and open to the public with exhibits and engaging speakers. A Celebration Dinner follows at 6:30pm in the National Wine Centre… you can register for either here.
Carol and Rob’s film night is Friday 21st July at Piccadilly theatre in North Adelaide. The film ‘Allelujah’ about surviving old age features Jennifer Saunders, Judi Dench and Derek Jacobi, so gather some friends and check out the flyer and email Rob to make your booking.
On Saturday 19th August our annual combined Quiz Night with Adelaide City Rotaract will be at Pulteney Grammar’s Wyatt Hall on South Tce. It’s been a great night in recent years, so gather some friends and fill a table of 10.
Come and join your local Rotaractors as we OP SHOP HOP through Adelaide City! Through local op shops around Adelaide!
Your $10 proceeds with your ticket will provide you with a goodie bag of snacks, but you're money will give back to the Community with all proceeds going to the Hutt St Centre!
We will meet at Cafe Troppo, for some fellowship and food and then walk and use public transport to take us to our first location- Salvos Adelaide!
On the day you can also donate your clothes to Salvos Adelaide in Whitmore Square! We will have a fun and relaxed day in the city! Everyone is welcome!
