As our COVID challenge grinds on, last Saturday’s Bunnings BBQ did not proceed… compromised by necessary social distancing and also wet weather. The rain would’ve limited profits anyway but hopefully this small hit to our fundraising will be soon recovered. Our imminent Grange raffle should help and we’ve acquired 1st and 2nd prizes, with ticket printing to follow… so, watch that space.
Meanwhile, Richard’s largely unheralded ‘Bread Run’ efforts continue in the background. It’s an ‘essential service’ in all the COVID constraint and the Moore St. Centre are mighty grateful, especially in lock-down week when they were pleasantly surprised with an unexpectedly huge delivery. Thanks to all volunteers that put your shoulders to the wheel in such working bee efforts.
Our next meeting is a dinner on Thursday August 12th in the Astoria Room upstairs at the Astor Hotel on the Pulteney/Gilles Street corner. It’s 6 for a 6:30pm start and we’ll be discussing projects, one of which is ‘End Trachoma’ toiletry kits. If you can’t make breakfast here’s a chance for personalised input - meals are affordable at the Astor with most main courses either side of $15. So come along to have your say, or just enjoy the camaraderie.
With eased COVID distancing, this Thursday’s Coffee Conversation returns to White Picket Café in Dulwich. With light showers expected, we’ll be indoors. If you can, do join us in a ‘Coffee Conversation’ 9:30am this Thursday 5th August.
The combined ‘Walk a Mile’ fundraiser with Eastwood Rotary is this Friday 6th - join us near Victoria Park Grandstand @ 7:15am. Our small group walk starts @ 7:30 up Wakefield Road, along Hutt Street past the Hutt Street Centre, finishing off back at Commissary Café, 160 Fullarton Rd., Rose Park for coffee or breakfast. You’d still make it to work, satisfied that you helped the homeless.
Rob’s 22nd July email sought interest in future social activity… 11 supported the winery bus tour and 17 favoured ‘Guess Who’ dinners (4 hosting, 13 diners). Of course you can do both but if you want to reply but haven’t, let Rob know by this Friday as he’ll soon start arranging it all.
Our COVID-delayed Steam Train ride is now on Sunday 22nd @ 10am from Mt Barker station returning from Goolwa by 6pm. Everyone with tickets can confirm with Rob then just turn up. If you know someone who’d now like to come, ticket bookings for the 22nd can be made here: https://www.trybooking.com/BTIBC.
For the benefit of members, we will aim to give the Duty Roster a few weeks ahead - see below.
