Last week’s Coffee Conversations attracted a great crowd again, and we were able to say (and sing) Happy 80th Birthday to Brian Harvey on the day!
Last Monday’s BBQ at Mile End was exceedingly successful. Our photo shows the changeover of lunchtime shift with the afternoon shift. At one point at lunchtime, I (as cook) had four platters of sausages on the cooking plate over a 10 minute period just to keep up with demand. The smell of onions frying and welcoming Rotarians to serve had hungry customers lining up! The efforts of three shifts resulted in a good profit so our thanks to all the volunteers – Carol, Paul E, Dean, Rob, Don, Di, Elaine, Lili, Angus, Keith and Bruce on the day.

This Thursday is breakfast at the Croquet Club, South Terrace (let Rob know what your brekky food choice is). These mornings have proven to be a wonderfully relaxed meeting time with members to discuss all sorts of issues. I’ll also be showing an interesting 20 minute video by DG Craig Dowling that touches on RI, District 9510’s Regionalisation Project, DEI, the initiation of Rotary Zone 8’s adoption of “Rotary says No to Domestic Violence” project, the Rotary Centenary, DGs wife Kiki’s Project, and the Rotary Conference to be held on 15-17 March 2024 in Loxton (something we should consider attending – they’re great fun with excellent speakers!) This year, DG Craig is sending out District updates in the form of videos instead of emails.
We will then morph into our Board Meeting and everyone is welcome to stay to see the running of the Club, unless you have other priorities – like going to work!

On Saturday July 29th there will be a tree planting event with the Council. It'll be from 930-12 at a site on Mann Tce in North Adelaide
It will run similar to last year, starting with a site induction and planting demonstration. They'll supply gloves and will have all the tools and plants ready to go on the day.
