Thursday night’s combined Rotary/Rotaract dinner was a huge success, which we might repeat every 3 months or so. Apart from inter-club camaraderie, Kirsti and RC Regency Park’s Angela organised ironing of labels on draw-string bags, then a conga-line to fill them with toothbrushes, combs, soap and face cleaning stuff… all in cartons for transport up to Tennant Creek. Well done and thanks to all! 👏 😊
The sun shone on our Sunday ‘Spring Magic’ picnic at Botanic Park. It was a lovely day in the park including some lovely guests from Peru and Ireland… (we may find them barracking for the Crows next year). Lyn Karran’s birthday was cheerfully celebrated with no numbers discussed but good cheer flowing freely. A wonderfully lazy afternoon to chat and relax.
Last Wednesday was another successful ‘Fred’s Van’ for our Club… a great idea and the photos below give you some idea. It was a pleasant change to do in daylight saving conditions and milder weather. Next time, let’s take it slower after and get to know our customers better.
Monday night was the quarterly meeting of all club Presidents from our Area 12 (Adelaide clubs and close northern ones). Lots of Club experiences and suggestions shared, so more news about these things in due course.
Rotary does annual surveys to gauge member satisfaction, seek opportunities to improve program participant experience and monitor membership trends. The recent one found most want:
friendship and personal interaction
local community involvement
to learn from guest speakers with interesting discussion
well structured, timely meetings
leaders who listen and engage with members
We feel we’re doing most of this well but do tell us if not. Our focus is community projects and social opportunities within a casual, welcoming Club culture. Though we value attendance at meetings, we’re more concerned for quality interactions as you’re able.
This Thursday is a 9:30am White Picket Café Conversation. Our next breakfast meeting on Thursday 28th at the Terrace is ‘Hat Day’ for Australian Rotary Health. So remember to wear a hat that has an interesting story to tell. 🎩

Area 12 is launching World Polio Day this Friday in the Rundle Mall 12.30pm (World Polio day is Sunday 24th October 2021).
Area 12 clubs will have the Polio Ute in the Mall all day Friday 22nd Oct and Saturday 23rd October 2021 to start the display of the Polio Ute through out District 9510.

Based on the success last year, our District 9510 ARH Committeehas again organised awine offer which has many benefits. Our extensive list gives you and your friends access to quality branded wines that most likely you already purchase from an outlet, but through our order, the prices are heavily reduced.
The benefit to the purchasers is reduced price.
The benefit to ARH is that we will receive $30 per dozen on all orders from the merchant which will be on-sent to ARH.
The benefit to your Club is that the orders will be matched to the respective Rotary Clubs that have participated in this campaign, and ARH will record your Club’s share as part of your ARH fundraising this year.
Let’s look at an example. If your Club members and friends order 15 dozen bottles from this list, ARH will receive $450 (15 dozen X $30 / dozen), and ARH will record that $450 from your Club. That’s $450 that you don’t have to dig into your Club finances for or worry about how you will raise it. Last year 1 Club was credited with $930 as ARH fundraising by supporting that campaign.
With Christmas not that far away now, this is an ideal time to make your orders. The orders will close on Friday 29th October 2021, so please ensure that the completed orders are returned to me by email to john@jcampbell.com.au by that date. We expect that your orders will be available for pick-up on Monday 15th November.

This is the uplifting and inspiring story of a visionary social enterprise that has changed the lives of thousands of previously marginalised women in Nepal, as it follows a group of open-minded and open-hearted participants from all around the world on their 10-day Seven Women cultural immersion experience in Nepal.
This documentary will inspire you, move you and show you that sustainable social change is possible, and also truly amazing in the scale of its positive impact. This is the story of a group of remarkable Nepalese women who, as a result of our sustainable social enterprise model, have been empowered to change their lives - from being marginalised and cast aside to now being strong and proud, self-sufficient, and beaming with joy and happiness.
Filmed in 2019, the documentary follows a group of Seven Women supporters from across the globe who travelled to Nepal with the Seven Women and Hands On Development Founder Stephanie Woollard, OAM. The film vividly captures the life-changing impact of their experiences, when they meet and directly work with the Nepalese women whose lives have been empowered through education, skills training and income generation.
This is a stirring story of courage, resilience and strength as these women seek to create a better life for themselves, their families, and other women in Nepal.
With the three alternative dates available, the ticket cost is just $25, with proceeds going towards our vitally important future development work through Seven Women.
All Kids is an education program for children in the coastal commune of Ream in Sihanouk Province, Cambodia which aims to have as many of their children as possible achieve high school grade 12.
Jenny Neale, wife of District Governor Jeff, has adopted All Kids as her partners project and invites you to come and enjoy a fun afternoon at the Burnside Ballroom on Sunday 14th November from 2-5pm.

I was in the six item express lane at the store quietly fuming.
Completely ignoring the sign, the woman ahead of me had slipped into the check-out line pushing a cart piled high with groceries.
Imagine my delight when the cashier beckoned the woman to come forward looked into the cart and asked sweetly, "So which six items would you like to buy?"
