Enjoying spring? Despite an uncertain mix of sun and rain, everything’s green and colourful with a hint of the warmer weather to come. Put Sunday October 17th in your diary for a bit of ‘Spring Magic’, picnicking together in Botanic Park. We’ll erect up some gazebos in the area pictured below opposite the Friends Gate entry to Botanic Gardens. More detail is in the flyer below but it’s centrally located, so do come for some springtime fun!
By the time you read this, Kirsti’s Community Service group will have met again to push along with the extensive project list that’s been bubbling along. Your Club Board meets again this Thursday and if you’d like to step up in some related role, do let me know. The Grange raffle‘s on the brink of bursting forth, so when it does get ready to also spruik the attraction of second prize!
Most of our club members tirelessly put their shoulder to our wheel in large and smaller ways. Many hands do make the lights work and hopefully those of you who give extraordinary effort realise how grateful we are 🤗. If you’d like to do more or maybe just something different in ensuring our Club prospers in our delivery of “fun while making a difference”, please let me know. I’m sure we can scratch your itch for mutual benefit.
Gathering items for our End Trachoma project ends this week, then we’ll take stock and buy any extras we need - so if you’ve some items to contribute, please give them to Kirsti, Rob or me ASAP. Our next ‘Chat 2 Belong’ is 10am this Saturday 25th in the Café Outside the Square (Whitmore), so if you know recent migrants who’d benefit, bring them along.
Put the evening of Friday 10th December in your dairies for the ‘Auld Teapot Challenge’ and Christmas gathering with Adelaide City Rotaract in the beautiful surrounds of South Terrace Croquet Club. While your diary’s open, there’s also a combined AdLight/AdCity dinner meeting on Thursday 14th October, 6pm for 6:30 in the Astor Hotel.
More immediately, this Thursday 23rd is another breakfast meeting at the Terrace where Dr Raymond Martin will explain in his interesting historical manner the City of Adelaide heritage and early German Immigrants’ contribution… see you there.

Based on the success last year, our District 9510 ARH Committeehas again organised awine offer which has many benefits. Our extensive list gives you and your friends access to quality branded wines that most likely you already purchase from an outlet, but through our order, the prices are heavily reduced.
The benefit to the purchasers is reduced price.
The benefit to ARH is that we will receive $30 per dozen on all orders from the merchant which will be on-sent to ARH.
The benefit to your Club is that the orders will be matched to the respective Rotary Clubs that have participated in this campaign, and ARH will record your Club’s share as part of your ARH fundraising this year.
Let’s look at an example. If your Club members and friends order 15 dozen bottles from this list, ARH will receive $450 (15 dozen X $30 / dozen), and ARH will record that $450 from your Club. That’s $450 that you don’t have to dig into your Club finances for or worry about how you will raise it. Last year 1 Club was credited with $930 as ARH fundraising by supporting that campaign.
With Christmas not that far away now, this is an ideal time to make your orders. The orders will close on Friday 29th October 2021, so please ensure that the completed orders are returned to me by email to john@jcampbell.com.au by that date. We expect that your orders will be available for pick-up on Monday 15th November.

Last year I replaced all the windows in my house with those expensive, double-pane, energy-efficient kind.
Today, I got a call from company who installed them. The caller complained that the work had been completed a year ago and I still hadn't paid for them.
Just because I'm a Senior Citizen doesn't mean that I am automatically mentally challenged.
So, I told him just what his fast-talking sales guy told me last year--that these windows would pay for themselves in a year---
It's been a year, so they're paid for, I told him.
There was only silence at the other end of the line, so I finally hung up.
He never called back. I bet he felt like an idiot.
