Stories
President's Pen

Last Wed. 24th. October was World Polio Day and I had the pleasure of promoting the event on Coast FM. with PDG. Doug Layng and member of Prospect.

Thursday 25th. was the club's second trial breakfast meeting at the Cafe on the Square and we were able to celebrate David Rowes 90th. Birthday.

Yesterday, Friday 26th. our club's members and friends enjoyed an excellent tour and afternoon tea of Parliament House conducted by Rachel Sanderson MP, State Member for Adelaide. Thankyou to Don Tindale for co- ordinating the tour which sadly he was unable to attend.

Yesterday morning, Fri. 26th. Di Lane and myself were able to help the Norwood Rotary Club on the first shift at Bunnings at Mile End and Bruce is expecting a "cheque in the mail". Norwood currently do twelve barbeques a year at Mile End.

Today we conducted another working bee at Catherine House and the front garden has now been transformed with planting and mulching with two Rotaractors helping our team.

Kym believes that one more Sat. will complete the project and that is planned for Sat. 10th. November and hopefully will include assembling the outdoor furniture purchased from Stratco.

Our next BBQ. is at Kent Town on Friday 2nd. Nov. and Di has a full roster, thankyou.

Sat. 10th. November I am joining Rotaractors in Adelaide's Pride March and club members are very welcome to join me at 5.30pm. in the city.

Our next meeting is this coming Thursday 1st. Nov. at the Royal Coach and our guest speaker is the current DG., David Egan from the Adelaide Club.

The following Thursday ,8th. Nov. we will again be at the Royal Coach with a Planning Meeting to discuss the Clubs possible move and whether the club continues to meet fortnightly or revert back to weekly?

End Polio Now film fundraiser
Further to the article in the District Bizz on the Film Fundraiser for End Polio Now here are the details for 3 Cinema options.

The film 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is said to be a great fun movie showcasing the life of Freddie Mercury who suffered greatly without the collaboration of his band Queen until he reunites with his bandmates just in time for Live Aid and leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. Queen cements a legacy that continues to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day who have produced some outstanding music.

The movie will be showing on,
  • Friday 2nd November at 6 pm, at Wallis Cinema Mount Barker or

  • Sunday 4th November, at 4pm, The Regal Cinema, Kensington Park or

  • Sunday 4th November at 3.30pm for 4pm start, The Gawler Cinemas - you can pay directly at the door.
Refreshments have been arranged at each Theatre so just come along and enjoy the film.

Full details for booking and the film trailer are on the District Website.

This is a opportunity to organize a group of your Club Members and Friends and have a great afternoon out raising funds for the Eradication of Polio which as you know helps us vaccinate 150 million children every year to prevent the virus from breaking out and reinstating.

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Affirmation

United in the spirit of Service we value truth, fairness and friendship; and we welcome the opportunity that Rotary gives us to contribute our talents and resources in support of others.

Jokes Corner

A man and his wife walked into a dentist's office.

The man said to the dentist, "Doc, I'm in one heck of a hurry. I have two buddies sitting out in my car waiting for us to go play golf, so forget about the anesthetic, I don't have time for the gums to get numb. I just want you to pull the tooth, and be done with it!

We have a 10:00 AM tee time at the best golf course in town and it's 9:30 already... I don't have time to wait for the anesthetic to work!'

The dentist thought to himself, "My goodness, this is surely a very brave man asking to have his tooth pulled without using anything to kill the pain." So the dentist asks him, "Which tooth is it sir?"

The man turned to his wife and said, "Open your mouth Honey, and show him.........
