I hope you enjoyed our lovely autumn weather and the generous recent dose of public holidays.
Seven Adelaide Lighters savoured last Wednesday evening’s Area 12 dinner experience, ably compered by our very own Rob McLennan. See photos below. If you find yourself in conversation with Rob, you might ask him about ABC’s missed opportunity regarding his media skills.
Thank you to the 17 members who thoughtfully responded to our recent member survey. It was essentially positive and your Club management is absorbing all constructive suggestions to further enhance your Rotary journey.
Plans for our combined Rotary-Rotaract Quiz night on Friday June 3 were further fined tuned at another steering meeting this week. Please use the email you’ll have received this week to gather a table of friends together for this night. It will be great fun as well as a chance for you to be directly involved in club fund raising. To make a table with some friends… you can buy tickets here.
Our film night tickets for ‘The Duke’ on Friday April 29th have sold well and at last count 53 people will be there.
Di needs some volunteers to fill our Bunnings BBQ team in the middle (11-2pm) and afternoon (2-5pm) shifts for our Monday 9 May slot. Please tell Di ASAP if you know anyone who can help.
This Thursday 28 April at our Terrace Hotel breakfast meeting, Paul Jupp will tell us about his life experiences… it could be a goodie! We’ll also be inducting a new member so make them immediately welcome. There’ll be a Coffee Conversation at White Picket Café 9:30am the week after on Thursday 5 May at 9:30am.
Rotary International estimates its Global Polio Eradication Initiative has saved over 20 million children around the world from paralysis. We must continue vaccinating children against polio - if the poliovirus circulates anywhere, it is a threat everywhere.
Here’s how you can support Rotary’s efforts during World Immunisation Week:
Use the World Immunization Week Toolkitfor graphics and sample posts to share on social media with the hashtags #EndPolio and #VaccinesWork. Donate to PolioPlus and help deliver polio vaccines to vulnerable children. All contributions are matched 2-to-1 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Rotary district funding to PolioPlus helps raise the $50 million each year to eradicate polio.
For the benefit of members, we will aim to give the Duty Roster a few weeks ahead - see below.
