Whatever your religious preference, an Australian Christmas/New Year is a great time to relax, restore and enjoy time with friends and family. I hope you find it remedial too.
It was a wonderful Christmas breakfast meeting on Thursday. Rob Brooke - an AdLight Rotarian of yore, helped Yvette with a special visit from Santa. The jolly bloke in red produced a gift for all from his capacious sack, with some pithy lines to match. We sang some Christmas songs and Stuart worked his usual Quiz time magic, generating a fun time for all. See photos below.
In the new year, there will be two Coffee Conversation options on January 5 and 12 at White Picket Café in Dulwich. Our first breakfast meeting is on Thursday January 19, followed by the first Board Meeting for 2023.
Don’t forget our Club’s wine sales and when the need arises, you can Order some here.
In case you’re wondering about Rotary’s Polio Eradicate project… By November 30, ‘22, wild polio cases were 30 (2 in Afghanistan, 20 - Pakistan, and 8 - Mozambique). (6 in 2021; 140 in 2020). Unfortunately, weak doses of oral polio vaccines can permit weakened virus to be excreted, so polio can easily spread in unsanitary situations. Apart from vaccine refusal, this vaccine-derived poliovirus is a main cause of re-emerging polio. New vaccines avoid this by inoculating with inactive polio virus.
But “don’t worry, be happy”!
Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and Prosperous 2023,
After the amazing success of our Rotary Clubs Riesling offered earlier this year, we have secured a local red wine for you to consider, enabling you to stock up for Christmas.
McLaren Vale is renowned for its excellent shiraz and this Chalk Hill Shiraz represents wonderful value, normally $22 per bottle, our club's fundraising offer is just $150.00 for a dozen. ($12.50 a bottle)
This delicious, easily drinkable wine is clean and smooth without unpleasant tannin aftertaste, so it's rapidly becoming a favoured wine.
A copy of the label is attached.
Our Rotary service work, both local and international relies on fundraising revenue, so here's are way to help others while giving your friends and family a very good deal.
Please contact John Wotherspoon - 0488 000 050, Bruce McDonald -0403 224 738 or myself - 0430 930 067 to secure your dozen (or more).
The wine is in stock in Adelaide and ready for collection.
For the benefit of members, we will aim to give the Duty Roster a few weeks ahead - see below.
