Hi, Rotarians and Friends.
The past week or so has been chock full of Rotary info feasting from the International Conference in Melbourne to last Saturday’s Volunteering Expo and Celebration Dinner.
Ask Katey and Rob what they thought were the best bits but be prepared to take notes and listen for a while. The photos below will give you a sense of the activity. Radio Rob was also on PR duty last weekend around Bonython Hall, interviewing Rotarians and guest speakers via Coast FM.
This Thursday June 8th breakfast meeting should be a goodie. Two young law students, Harper Robb and Will Taylor are explaining some constitutional facts about the ‘Voice’ proposal. Rotary encourages Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and is apolitical, so our discussion focus is on facts for DEI and Referendum clarity while avoiding politics.
Paige has gathered a fine group of organisers to put together our combined Quiz Night with Adelaide City Rotaract on Saturday August 19. Put the date in your diary and think hard about what items you have that may be valuable as prizes or a Wine Wall. Maybe it’s an old bottle of scotch, etc. that you’ve never got around to opening, or perhaps something completely different. If in doubt, ask Paige’s Quiz team.
Thanks to all our intrepid volunteer BBQers who’ll be giving their public holiday time next Monday 12 June to satisfy the hunger of Bunnings shoppers at Mile End as they open their wallets (or proffer their card). Our fundraising team is truly tireless, energetic, dogged and indefatigable. Many thanks to all involved and especially to Rob and Di, our two drivers. The resulting revenue is the mainstay of our service work expenditure.
Don’t forget our June Cuppa Conversation 10-11:30am Saturday 24th June at Botanic Garden’s Fibonacci Café. Our newest member and energetic organiser, Lili is organising this one. There’ll be more detail on how to get there as we get closer.
Book in for our Club Changeover Dinner via Yvette on Thursday June 29 in the Barton Room at North Adelaide’s Caledonian Inn. Then, Allelujah! Film night is Friday 21st July at North Adelaide’s Piccadilly theatre - email Rob to book.
If you like tree planting Kirsti and Paige will arrange this c/ Adelaide City Council on Saturday July 29th 9:30-12 at Mann Tce in North Adelaide. Gloves, tools and plants are supplied, also a site induction and planting demo. This activity is busy but great fun, so slot it in your diary.
