Our next official meeting is a breakfast meeting on Thursday 8 August at the Stamford Plaza Hotel. If you are unable to attend the meeting or will have guests attending, please email me at kmball@jelkamain.com or text me on 0402853929 by Wednesday lunchtime so that I can advise the Stamford Plaza about numbers attending. This will assist the Hotel in catering for the buffet breakfast they provide in the meeting room.
I expect everyone will have been engaging in lots of 30 second meditations over the week and be feeling very relaxed and destressed after our practical session in meditation from last week’s guest speaker, John Burston. He provided us with a very interesting session that introduced us to some exercises to calm our minds. It was a very successful session and I’m amazed at how much he was able to teach us about meditation and its benefits in such a short time.
Our guest speaker this week is Amber Shreeve, a Sergeant in the South Australian Police force. She has recently returned from a Group Study Exchange to Missouri, USA, where she observed interagency practice in domestic violence policing and other agency interventions. She will talk about her experience, her observations and her learnings from the Group Study Exchange experience and how she intends to use these to help inform South Australian policing.
A reminder that the annual Walk a Mile in My Boots fundraiser for the Hutt Street Centre is on this Friday. Members will meet from 7am in front of the grandstand in Victoria Park. Walking will commence at 7.30am from Victoria Park and finish on the corner of South Terrace. and Hutt Street with a BBQ. breakfast. Don’t forget to enrol yourself for the walk on the Hutt Street website.
This year our Club will join Adelaide Parks, Adelaide South and Adelaide West Rotary Clubs for a combined meeting with District Governor, Jane Owens. The evening meeting will be at the Naval and Military Club on October 16. As well as meeting with the District Governor it will be a good chance for to meet up with members of the other smaller Adelaide City clubs and hear about the projects they are working on.
