President's Message
President’s Pen 7th February 2017

Last week’s meeting was designated as a planning meeting.  Club members used the opportunity to discuss to potential projects, which are currently being investigated further, prior to the Club committing to them.  These are; the Unley Symphony Orchestra which is seeking assistance with managing their car parking arrangements and providing tea and coffee at their events, plus Catherine House which is a refuge for vulnerable women, seeking assistance in a garden makeover at one of their residences.

Members then discussed the issue of falling members across Rotary Clubs and what, if any, changes need to be made to Rotary protocols and meeting arrangements to make Rotary more attractive to prospective members.  No decisions were made, however most thought that arrangements should stay as they are but that more effort should be put into engaging members in more interesting community projects (such as the garden project above).

Thought for the week, “Our greatest happiness does not depend on the condition of life in which chance has placed us, but is always the result of a good conscience, good health, occupation, and freedom in all just pursuits.”  Thomas Jefferson
