Our Zone 8 Regionalisation Pilot Vote results are in with 89% of Clubs voting yes. However, the bar was set exceedingly high, requiring ⅔ of all clubs and ⅔ of all Districts to approve it. While 20 out of the 21 Districts met this hurdle, one District only reached 50% despite all 21 District Governors endorsing the Pilot. So, let’s see what the Rotary International Board will do next about strong support to pursue a new regional approach for support and governing Rotary in our Pacific Zone.
Our next Bunnings BBQ will be on Monday 14 November at Mile End, so Rob and Di will eventually call for volunteers. It was our Fred’s Van week last Wednesday 5 October in our 3-weekly cycle, so thanks to all for that one. Chat2Belong was renamed ‘Cuppa Conversation’ and its first session with the changed emphasis is Saturday October 22nd at CIBO cafe, 199 Hutt St.
Bruce will be back from Norway this week and it will be good to see him again and hear his travel stories. I’m in Bali with the family this week and Rob is away this week also. Many thanks to Alex for doing Treasury duty for the last 3 months and thanks also to Past President, Yvette for stepping in as acting Club President this week.
Our breakfast meeting this Thursday 13 October at the Terrace Hotel will be a Hat Day for mental health as I emailed you last week. Brian Harvey’s ‘Life and Times’ has been postponed now until our Thursday breakfast meeting on 10 November. Please let acting President know if you can come by emailing or phoning her well before Wednesday, so she can manage our numbers and advise the hotel.
On Thursday 27 October we’ll have a Club Consultation meeting over dinner in the Naval, Military and Air Force Club on the corner of Hutt and Angas Streets. Our annual 'Hat Day' event to raise funds and awareness for Australian Rotary Health is next Thursday 13 October in our Terrace Hotel breakfast meeting.
Each year this really is great fun - just wear an unusual hat and be ready to field questions about it.
Yvette will have some ways of winkling out your hat's interesting back story from each of you. It's all to have fun while raising money to help the 1 in 7 Australian affected by mental illness.

Based on previous successes, our District 9510 ARH Committeehas again organised aSpring Wine Offer which has many benefits.
Our extensive list gives you and your friends access to quality branded wines that most likely you already purchase from an outlet, but through our order, the prices are heavily reduced.
The benefit to the purchasers is reduced price.
The benefit to ARH is that based on orders, our wine merchant will donate to Australian Rotary Health - $36 per dozen of labelled wines, and $24 per dozen for cleanskins.
The benefit to your Club is that the orders will be matched to the respective Rotary Clubs that have participated in this campaign, and ARH will record your Club’s share of that donation as part of your ARH fundraising this year.
The orders will close on 7th November, 2022, so please ensure that the completed orders are returned to me by email to john@jcampbell.com.au by that date. We expect that your orders will be available for pick-up on Monday 21st November 2022.
