For those of you doing our breakfast meetings, Rob is dusting off his yellow Quiz book again… though we rarely knew the answers, it was fun to try!
In case you’d been wondering about Board activity in recent months, we missed a few of the regular précis but they’ve now been restored. Wednesday’s combined dinner meeting at the Naval and Military Club with District Governor Jeff Neale will update us on wider Rotary activity. We’ll cover some of this at our Thursday 24th breakfast and Club Directors will summarise recent plans. All club member views are encouraged, so even those who rarely attend should try to make this one.
For a chance to engage with our Afghan refugee family, we’re having a picnic on Sunday March 27th at Mitcham Reserve, Norman Walk. Do keep the day free - we’ll provide details in the week leading up. Sorry for the short notice but Ramandan precludes their daytime eating during April and there’s less reliable weather in May.
Please put the Area 12 Combined Clubs dinner on Wednesday 20th April at the Adelaide Pavilion in your diary. Let me know the story about your ‘Best Rotary Moment’ if you’d like to offer one.
Rob’s arranged a film night on Friday April 29th at Prospect’s Place Nova. ‘The Duke’ is a charming tale about an English worker who stole a Goya from the National Gallery - with Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren. Funds raised will support Afghan refugees, so please circulate it widely among your social network when Rob sends out the flyer.
Perhaps we can field a table at Adelaide Parks’ Quiz Championship on Saturday 21st May? It will be good practice for the Quiz Night we’re running with Adelaide City Rotaract on Friday 3rd June. It is a big fundraiser for both clubs, so please let Rob and Di know if you’d like to help organise it. Funds are under some COVID pressure this year but BBQs have been running hot lately (‘scuse the pun and thanks to all).
Meanwhile, Fred’s Van is going well - let Kirsti know if you want to be included. Otherwise, see you at breakfast on Thursday 24th and coffee conversation this Thursday 17th!
