Area 12 Presidents met again last week (our club, Adelaide, Central, Parks, Prospect, Walkerville, Regency Park; Rotaract City, Uni and Thebarton). Santhny and I asked them to contribute towards the remaining $5,000 cost of the #PinkBox vending machine planned for Port Adelaide. At short notice last weekend, an opportunity arose to raise funds for this by operating a Vaccine hub BBQ. The day’s notice caught us short but thankfully much was still raised this way by Area 12 volunteers.
Six of us (Di, Rob, Yvette, me, Alison and Paul J) staffed Rotary’s ‘End Polio’ stand in Rundle Mall last Saturday - a Public Relations opportunity with a small donation flow to polio eradication. It‘s good to highlight Rotary this way, as most of our work is modestly done without flag-waving. Thanks to all those giving their time and dedication - see photos below.
Kym Pedler is planning a Catherine House garden maintenance day on Saturday 13th November and Katey will seek volunteers soon. It’s only 2-3 hours in the morning, so please give it favourable thought.
Our casual and welcoming Club culture focuses on community projects and social opportunities. Members mostly volunteer freely and along with our growing host of ‘Adelaide Light Rotary Friends’, we’ve achieved a huge range of outcomes. So please keep stepping forward as volunteers… for the obvious outcomes, the ensuing camaraderie and also in support of organisers.
Though bag-sewing isn’t a strength, Katrina (and to some extent, Di) kept us in that game for End Trachoma. Kirsti and her Community Services folk are doing a great job and met again on Tuesday night to keep all the balls in the air. International, youth/vocational and fundraising are also ticking along but let’s not take for granted the many unheralded tasks by members that make our club tick, admin, financial, techno support, etc. Thanks to all of you too. 🤗
This Thursday 28th is a ‘Hat Day’ breakfast meeting at the Terrace Hotel to recognise and raise funds for Australian Rotary Health. So when you’re dressing to come, please remember to wear a hat that has an interesting story to tell. 🎩 👒 ⛑
Based on the success last year, our District 9510 ARH Committeehas again organised awine offer which has many benefits. Our extensive list gives you and your friends access to quality branded wines that most likely you already purchase from an outlet, but through our order, the prices are heavily reduced.
The benefit to the purchasers is reduced price.
The benefit to ARH is that we will receive $30 per dozen on all orders from the merchant which will be on-sent to ARH.
The benefit to your Club is that the orders will be matched to the respective Rotary Clubs that have participated in this campaign, and ARH will record your Club’s share as part of your ARH fundraising this year.
Let’s look at an example. If your Club members and friends order 15 dozen bottles from this list, ARH will receive $450 (15 dozen X $30 / dozen), and ARH will record that $450 from your Club. That’s $450 that you don’t have to dig into your Club finances for or worry about how you will raise it. Last year 1 Club was credited with $930 as ARH fundraising by supporting that campaign.
With Christmas not that far away now, this is an ideal time to make your orders. The orders will close on Friday 29th October 2021, so please ensure that the completed orders are returned to me by email to john@jcampbell.com.au by that date. We expect that your orders will be available for pick-up on Monday 15th November.

All Kids is an education program for children in the coastal commune of Ream in Sihanouk Province, Cambodia which aims to have as many of their children as possible achieve high school grade 12.
Jenny Neale, wife of District Governor Jeff, has adopted All Kids as her partners project and invites you to come and enjoy a fun afternoon at the Burnside Ballroom on Sunday 14th November from 2-5pm.
