In lieu of a morning meeting, last Thursday our club members plus friends were invited on a 4pm tour of the Adelaide Oval conducted by none other than our club secretary, Dean Sullivan. Donned in walking shoes we were guided through change rooms, media rooms, hospitality areas, various stands and did a virtual batsman’s walk onto the oval to the cheers of thousands of cricket fans. We walked down the football’s players race and also climbed up inside the heritage scoreboard and saw the myriad of pulleys and chains that enable this scoreboard to be operated. Dean provided many anecdotes and stories throughout the tour to bring the history of the Oval to life.
After the tour we adjourned to The Queen’s Head in North Adelaide for a meal, where we were joined by more members and partners. This provided a great opportunity to relive our own memories of times at the Oval while endlessly confusing waiting staff with our orders and movable seating arrangements.
Thank you to all who were able to attend and a special thank you to Dean Sullivan – who we will all want to sit next to at the Quiz Night if any questions are related to the Adelaide Oval.

Rotary Club of Adelaide Light Mission Statement
To be recognised as the Service Club of Choice in the Eastern Precinct of Adelaide because we are a Friendly Breakfast Club that appeals to a broad range of busy people who want to make a difference to local and international communities.
A man died and went to The Judgment, they told him , “Before you meet with God, I should tell you — we’ve looked over your life, and to be honest you really didn’t do anything particularly good or bad. We’re not really sure what to do with you. Can you tell us anything you did that can help us make a decision?”
The newly arrived soul thought for a moment and replied, “Yeah, once I was driving along and came upon a person who was being harassed by a group of thugs. So I pulled over, got out a bat, and went up to the leader of the thugs. He was a big, muscular guy with a ring pierced through his lip.
Well, I tore the ring out of his lip, and told him he and his gang had better stop bothering this guy or they would have to deal with me!”
