Last night I met with the other presidents of Group12 city and inner suburban clubs and our main focus was discussing how our clubs will be involved with the Polio Ute relay which is making its’ way from Alice Springs visiting lots of clubs on the way. It is hoped that the four inner city clubs can use the ute from the 12th - 16 th Dec, including being able to display it in Victoria Square and in front of the Wine Centre immediately before the Adelaide's Club's Cricket Dinner on Wed. 16th. Dec. Originally the ute was to be displayed at Adelaide Oval over the Cricket Test weekend, but the games dates were moved.
I hope that you are having success selling our Grange Raffle tickets which hopefully will net us $3,500 helping us to make up our fundraising shortfall this year. Di has more raffle book's if you have sold all of yours.
John W and Richard got together to make adjustments to the club's website attempting to make it more appealing to non-Rotarians. Last night Heidi, president of the Adelaide Club highlighted how their refreshed web site of 3-4 years attracts approximately 10 enquiries per week and 40-50% of their membership over that time has come from the website. The enquiry automatically triggers an email to the clubs’ membership director to follow up as quickly as possible. We have made a start and there is more to be done.
I hope that you have all placed Friday 11th. December in your diary so that as many of us possible are able to celebrate our end of year function with the Adelaide City Rotaract Club at the Riverside Rowing Club. The annual Silver Teapot competition will this year feature the game of quoits. More details regarding catering will be announced shortly.
This coming Thursday 5th. Nov. will be a Coffee Conversation at the White Picket Fence in Dulwich from 9.30 am. David Rowe usually comes along and he would love to see you.

Share the Dignity is an organisation that works to make a real, on the ground difference in the lives of women experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence or doing it tough and focus on ending period poverty in Australia. “It’s In the Bag” campaign runs from 20th to 29th November and is predominately a donation drive of basic essentials, period products and some special items which get delivered to registered charities to be distributed to those in crisis in time for Christmas.
We will be doing the adult bags and I ask that members, their friends, family and colleagues start collecting any of the following items:
Handbags or small female style backpacks that are new or if pre-loved they have to be in great condition, clean and no clear signs of use
Shampoo & Conditioner
Toothbrush & Toothpaste
Bodywash or Soap
Roll-on Deodorant
Sealed packets of pads or tampons (regular to super absorbency recommended)
They also encourage additional items that would make someone feel special such as makeup, accessories, moisturiser, facemasks, hand cream, handmade items, purses etc. Keep in mind, 'what would I like to receive during such a difficult time?'
Note - All items donated should be in their original packaging, sealed and in great condition.
Please bring donated items to the breakfast meeting on 12 November.
The plan is to pool all donations by 19 November, and then pack the bags together at our meeting on Thurs 26th November. This aligns with International Day For The Elimination of Violence Against Women which is on the 25th November.

Proceeds to the Community Outreach Dental Program in Light Square. Here we provide free dental treatment to people who live in the Common Ground building and others in dire need. They are trying to bridge the gap between homelessness or distressing domestic circumstances and a meaningful life. They need their teeth to function again and be presentable for the workforce.

After departing Dock 2, the ship will sail down the Port River into the Gulf to about Semaphore before returning. During the cruise, passengers will be supplied with delicious food prepared in the ship’s galley. Tea coffee and soft drinks will be available throughout the cruise. The ship’s bar will also be open with beer, wine and bubbly available for purchase. On board and helping to sail the ship will be a group of students from recent Rotary Sailing Challenge voyages. During the cruise, these young people will be available to talk about their experiences and the benefits they have gained from this exciting Rotary Youth program. Those on board will also be able to witness the students setting sails, climbing the rigging and confidently walking out on foot-ropes strung beneath the swaying spars high above the deck.
