President's Pen

It was great to catch up with everyone last Thursday at our first meeting for 2019, and as well as our guest speaker, to have Margie Harding and Margie Steffins who Phil has lined up as a guest speaker in the near future.

Last Sunday, nineteen Rotaractors and John W. joined me at the Riverside Rowing Club for a "come and try" session which was hugely successful and several are seriously thinking about completing the six-week course.

This week is a coffee conversation at the Stables at 9.30am.

Our next Board Meeting is tomorrow evening at 6pm. at the Royal Coach in the Board Room.

Rotaract meet next Monday for their first one for 2019

Next Tuesday we are operating the Barbeque at Bunnings at Mile End and I understand that Di has filled the three shifts.

Also, next Tuesday evening the small Rotary/Rotaract subcommittee are meeting at the Arab Steed on Hutt St. to further discuss the progression path to Rotary.

Thursday 24th. Jan., we meet for breakfast at the Royal Coach and Liz Tilley will be our guest speaker, presenting her “Life and Times".

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Affirmation

United in the spirit of Service we value truth, fairness and friendship; and we welcome the opportunity that Rotary gives us to contribute our talents and resources in support of others.

Rotary Club of Adelaide Light Mission Statement

To be recognised as the Service Club of Choice in the Eastern Precinct of Adelaide because we are a Friendly Breakfast Club that appeals to a broad range of busy people who want to make a difference to local and international communities.

Rules To Consider

1. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

2. Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often.

3. Going to church doesn't make you a Christian anymore than standing in a garage makes you a car.

4. Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

5. If you must choose between two evils, pick the one you've never tried before.

6. My idea of housework is to sweep the room with a glance.

7. Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious.

8. A person, who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person.

9. If you look like your passport picture, you probably need the trip.

10. Bills travel through the mail at twice the speed of cheques.

11. Men are from earth. Women are from earth. Deal with it.
