After an excellent Thursday breakfast brainstorming session last week, we should be set for an interesting few months ahead. Special thanks to Kirsti for co-ordinating it all and for everyone who came and contributed their ideas. Spot-ocracy rules!
Last Thursday, Alison and I attended the 2023 Aboriginal Health Scholarship Presentation Ceremony where we met our club’s scholar, Anesha Rahman over morning tea. We also met Anesha’s close study-buddy, Avah who she met when they were both in their pre-study, scholarship assessment process. Avah is also studying first year medicine, ensuring a common thread apart from their social connection.
Carol and Rob have got together to arrange a film night on Friday 21 July at the recently refurbished art-deco Piccadilly theatre in North Adelaide. The film ‘Allelujah’ featured in the Toronto International Film Festival as well as the BFI’s London festival. It’s about surviving old age, starring Jennifer Saunders, Judi Dench and Derek Jacobi among others. It’s $35 including wine, beer, softies and nibbles - look out for a flyer.
While you’re putting that date in your diary, here’s another. Our combined Quiz Night with Adelaide City Rotaract is Saturday 19th August at Pulteney Grammar’s Wyatt Hall on South Tce. We apologise for any previous notification that it was Friday 18 August. It’s been a great night in recent years, so gather some friends and fill a table of 10.
Our District 9510 Rotary Volunteering Expo on 3rd June 2023 in Bonython Hall is free and open to the public with exhibits and speakers on societal change and volunteering trends - themed “Proud of the Past Confident of the Future”. The Celebration Dinner 6:30pm that night at the National Wine Centre is $100 for a 2-course meal, welcome drink on arrival, entertainment and some very special guests. Move fast and put 3rd June in your diary… you can register for either here.
This Thursday 18 May is another ‘White Picket’ Coffee Conversation from 9:30am and the next Cuppa Conversation is this Saturday at Bocelli’s on Hutt St 10-11:30am. Our next Club dinner meeting is 6 for 6:30pm Thursday 25 May at the Kent Town Hotel.

We will meet at Cafe Troppo, for some fellowship and food and then walk and use public transport to take us to our first location- Salvos Adelaide!
On the day you can also donate your clothes to Salvos Adelaide in Whitmore Square! We will have a fun and relaxed day in the city! Everyone is welcome!
