This month’s especially generous public holidays are being matched by serendipitous weather, so hopefully your Easter was a goodie! In the northern hemisphere where Easter began, cool spring weather and enterprising retailers allowed prolific bunnies to be imagined laying chocolate eggs. At our house, Australia’s Easter Bilby was particularly generous to visiting grandchildren… even Nana and Pop totally blew sensible chocolate limits.
There’s also an element of spring about Rotary, because it’s the time of year where we start laying groundwork for an enlivened club leadership to plan ahead. With this in mind, members were recently sent a member survey link. So please take a moment to tell us how you’d like your club to be.
Plans for our combined Rotary-Rotaract Quiz night on Friday June 3 are also starting to unfold. It should be a major fund raiser to help fuel our service work and we may soon ask you to put a shoulder to that wheel. For now, please add June 3rd in your diary and start gathering some friends to make a table… you can buy tickets here.
Also, Rotary tends to be needlessly modest about its worldwide achievements and to enhance our public image, more signage and other measures are encouraged. The attached photo shows our new sign with our Club name and logo for use in community work. In that context, please note the flagged 23 April Catherine House working bee has been cancelled for now.
This Wednesday’s combined Area 12 clubs’ dinner 21st sold well and our own Rob will be MC. Meanwhile our film night tickets are selling well for ‘The Duke’ on Friday April 29th at Prospect’s Palace Nova theatre. If you’ve not done so already, you can buy tickets here.
Di’s gathering a small Bunnings BBQ team to help Norwood Rotary meet their Friday 6th May slot. If all goes to plan, that’s also the day Adelaide City Rotaract and ourselves will launch the ‘Share the Dignity’ period product dispenser at Watto Purrunna Health Centre in Port Adelaide, for which we received a District Grant.
There’s a Coffee Conversation at White Picket Café 9:30am this Thursday 21st. Stuart’s ‘Life and Times’ chat last week was well received, so don’t miss Paul Jupp’s at our 28th April, Terrace Hotel breakfast.
Rotary International estimates its Global Polio Eradication Initiative has saved over 20 million children around the world from paralysis. We must continue vaccinating children against polio - if the poliovirus circulates anywhere, it is a threat everywhere.

Use the World Immunization Week Toolkitfor graphics and sample posts to share on social media with the hashtags #EndPolio and #VaccinesWork. Donate to PolioPlus and help deliver polio vaccines to vulnerable children. All contributions are matched 2-to-1 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Rotary district funding to PolioPlus helps raise the $50 million each year to eradicate polio.
