Stories
President's Pen
Unfortunately, I received a letter from John and Julie C requesting Leave of Absence until 30th. June due to John's ongoing ray treatment followed by a message from Julie this week informing me that John had broken his right hip on Wednesday night. He was to be operated on Friday at Calvary Adelaide. I have asked Julie when it would be suitable for John to receive visitors and will let you know. On behalf of the club, I wished John a very speedy recovery and I have offered my extensive notes on the subject of broken hips.

We were also advised by Yvette that Tony has been admitted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with pneumonia. Thankfully, Tony is improving slowly and Yvette is hopeful that he will be able to come home soon. We wish Tony all the very best for a good recovery.

This coming Sunday 16th. May is the Rotaract Come and Try Rowing with my fellow crew members at the Riverside Rowing Club, commencing at 9.30 am.

Our first mid-week Tuesday barbeque at Bunnings at Mile End is planned for the 25th. May which is very exciting and will certainly bolster our fundraising endeavours. Di has just about filled the roster and needs one more person for the 11am - 2pm shift. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered. We will miss our regulars, John and Julie and all their Bruce's.

Kym Pedler and Katey H have informed me that finally the concreting work at Catherine House is to commence and they are tentatively planning a working bee on Sat. 29th. May. More details to follow.

The Community Services Committee club has decided to introduce monthly Saturday morning Coffee Conversations to complement our fortnightly Thursday mornings to cater for those who are unable to attend mid-week. The first get together is planned for Sat. 5th. June at 9.45 am at Bici 259 Hutt Street in a rear private room and as long as everyone buys a coffee or something similar, there will be no room hire.

Make sure that you have placed our club's changeover date, Thursday 1st. July in your diary. It will be a dinner meeting at the Sage Hotel.

This coming Thursday 13th. May is the date for our next breakfast meeting at the Sage Hotel, from 7 am for a 7.15 am start. Please remember to let me know of your attendance by this coming Tuesday evening.

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Affirmation

United in the spirit of Service we value truth, fairness and friendship; and we welcome the opportunity that Rotary gives us to contribute our talents and resources in support of others.

Rotary Club of Adelaide Light Mission Statement

To be recognised as the Service Club of Choice in the Eastern Precinct of Adelaide because we are a Friendly Breakfast Club that appeals to a broad range of busy people who want to make a difference to local and international communities.

Jokes Corner
The refrigerator

So after a long day at work I came home to an empty house.

I proceed to the kitchen where I find a note from my girlfriend, stuck to the fridge. "This isn't working, I'm sorry but I just can't take it, I'm going to live with my mother".

But then I opened the fridge, the light came on and the beer was cold. So I thought, what was she talking about?
