With body clocks adjusted amid a highly variable spring season, the public holiday was a welcome bonus. You may be relieved to know our request for a lovely sunny spring day on our October 17th ‘Spring Magic’ picnic has been faithfully lodged.
In the short week ahead there’s no Rotary meeting, Fred’s Van, committees/Board meetings, Chat 2 Belong or social event, just a ‘Coffee Conversation’ for those who can… yet much still bubbles along beneath the surface. Thank you Alex and the Chat-2-Belongers, Di and her reliable BBQers as well as Kirsti and her dedicated community service team. Angus has sent $2,000 for Timor-Leste tank installations at Manatuto school c/ Kirsti’s parents (Karen and Martii). Apart from stewardship of all things technical, Richard and his Vocational/Youth team are planning our next NYSF, RYPEN, RYLA moves.
Our Grange raffle has begun and Rob is freely dispensing ticket books, so please sell as many as you can. Our four great prizes range from $1,100 wine to $100 cash. With only 250 books of 4 tickets each, there’s good chance of success but absolute certainty of positive community difference from the raffle revenue. A $20 book of tickets is an ideal top-up gift for those who seem to have everything.
We’ll soon assemble Kirsti’s ‘End Trachoma’ kits; while Katrina, Di and possibly Paige are busily engaged with needle and thread kindly finishing the drawstring kit bags. Now our $5,000 District Grant with AdCity Rotaract is approved, we’ll soon install a #PinkBox vending machine (pictured) at Watto Purrunna Aboriginal Health Service in Port Adelaide. Rotaract are raising money for this with a discounted win offer here.
Di’s arranged the next Bunnings BBQ for Monday 11th and we almost have a quorum for Rotary’s Polio Plus stand in Rundle Mall 10am till noon on Saturday 23 October. Do tell me if you can help get us over the line with our volunteers.

Based on the success last year, our District 9510 ARH Committeehas again organised awine offer which has many benefits. Our extensive list gives you and your friends access to quality branded wines that most likely you already purchase from an outlet, but through our order, the prices are heavily reduced.
The benefit to the purchasers is reduced price.
The benefit to ARH is that we will receive $30 per dozen on all orders from the merchant which will be on-sent to ARH.
The benefit to your Club is that the orders will be matched to the respective Rotary Clubs that have participated in this campaign, and ARH will record your Club’s share as part of your ARH fundraising this year.
Let’s look at an example. If your Club members and friends order 15 dozen bottles from this list, ARH will receive $450 (15 dozen X $30 / dozen), and ARH will record that $450 from your Club. That’s $450 that you don’t have to dig into your Club finances for or worry about how you will raise it. Last year 1 Club was credited with $930 as ARH fundraising by supporting that campaign.
With Christmas not that far away now, this is an ideal time to make your orders. The orders will close on Friday 29th October 2021, so please ensure that the completed orders are returned to me by email to john@jcampbell.com.au by that date. We expect that your orders will be available for pick-up on Monday 15th November.
