As there is no meeting this week, some of us will meet for a Coffee Conversation in Dulwich tomorrow morning at 9.30 am. at the White Picket Fence.
Our next meeting will be a Zoom meeting on 9 July and the Guest Speaker will be Ily Siraji who will speak on “From Rwanda & Congo to the APY Lands and everything in between”.
The next formal meeting will be on Thursday 23rd.July at the Royal Coach Hotel with the Eastwood Club, commencing at 7.15 am which will include a plated breakfast with a barista made coffee at a cost of $25.00. The guest speaker will be the new District Governor of District 9510, David Jones, accompanied by his wife Lyn.
I will need to confirm numbers from our club, so please RSVP to me by Tues. 21st. (evening).
John W. has organized a social drinks evening next Tuesday 7th. July at the Kentish in North Adelaide, pitched at our younger members which is a very positive idea.
Last Sunday John W. organized a very successful movie evening attended by 13 members of our club and 7 members from Adelaide Parks. It was an excellent movie and most of our group followed it with a delicious Thai dinner very nearby.
Don Wills from the Eastwood Club suggested that the two clubs actually walk in the Walk a Mile In My Boots on Friday 7th. August. Many of our club members have already donated money to this very needy cause and I am not suggesting double dipping, but inviting anyone who would like to walk as well. We plan to meet in front of the Victoria Park Grandstand at 7.30 am. and walk for about 40 minutes, finishing at the Commissary on Fullarton Road for breakfast/coffee.
Please let me know if you would like to join us and, interestingly our club has participated in every walk.

Hello John,
How nice of you to write to me. Like you, I noticed Allen's death notice in The Advertiser and was both surprised and deeply saddened to learn of his death. Allen was an extremely nice gentleman, always courteous, very approachable, and with a delightful sense of humour. I have known Allen for many years,although not closely, in several different forums, including Rotary, and always enjoyed seeing him. When I think of him I always seem to find myself smiling, which is the effect he had on most people, I imagine.
Good to hear from you, John. I hope you are keeping well and staying safe in these uncertain times. You might have gleaned from the Grapevine that, following the death of my dear Kathryn in 2011, I subsequently met and, in 2018, married my current wife, Linda. I am pleased to say I have never been happier in my life.
The only down-side is that, at my age, the opportunities for travel are diminishing and this virus has put a real spanner in the works; we can't go anywhere! In the short term, Linda and I will content ourselves with travel around Australia, since there are many places neither of us have been, so overseas travel might have to be 'on the back-burner' for some time yet.
You might give my fondest regards to all members of the Rotary Club of Adelaide Light; I have great memories of my time there.

Centenary of Rotary Australia Launch - Save the Date
Rotary’s Centenary is a time of celebration! It Is a time to reflect on our past, and take pride in all that has been achieved. It is a time we play our part in the history of Rotary.
Our centenary is also the time to lay the foundations for our future, as we still have much to do. The key project in our centenary year will focus on stopping the one in 16 children who die in 9 Pacific nations before the age of five.
We invite you to join Rotarians across Australia on 10th July for virtual fellowship, as well as meet our R100 Centenary Ambassadors, the Governor General and Mrs Hurley, as they launch our national centenary campaign. By joining us, you will witness the “Passing the Baton” ceremony. The baton that will carry the symbols of our centenary and will travel far and wide across Rotary clubs and Districts.
Please pass this invitation on to as many Rotary clubs as possible so that they too can join this event. We ask too for your support in helping us raise funds for our R100 Centenary project, "Rotary Give Every Child a Future"; saving young lives in Pacific nations.
