President's Pen
We will not be meeting this week. Our next meeting will be a ZOOM meeting on Thursday 11 June at 7.30 am. Members can dial in earlier and catch up for a chat if they wish. We all wish Phil Harding a speedy recovery with his post-surgery rehabilitation and ongoing treatment.

Last Thursday, Julie Campbell hosted a highly successful ZOOM morning tea as part of the Cancer Council’s ‘Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea’ annual fundraiser. The event raised $476 for the Cancer Council.  There was a diverse range of favourite cups with interesting stories that we all introduced and talked about. John Campbell won the prize for the best cup and saucer / mug story with his unique moustache cup.

At the May Board meeting it was agreed that the Club would initiate a new project to raise funds to deliver a second dental chair (a portable chair) for the Community Outreach Dental Program.  Margie Steffens has obtained quotes for portable dentist’s chairs and is continuing to investigate alternative local suppliers. Funding options are being explored and we will apply for a District Foundation Grant to pay for some of the cost.  Margie is also considering other possible grants that could be accessed for the project.

Cancer Council Biggest Morning Tea
Thank you to everyone - Rotarians, Rotaractor and friends who joined us for The Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea which our Club hosted via Zoom last Thursday morning. Also a big thank you to those who were unable to attend, but chose to make a donation. This has resulted in $475 being raised by our club for the Cancer Council.

It was a fun morning when we all were able to get to know each other a little better through our “mug or cup” stories. Congratulation to John C who was judged as having the best story and to Angus for winning a competitive game of Cups and Saucers!

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Affirmation

United in the spirit of Service we value truth, fairness and friendship; and we welcome the opportunity that Rotary gives us to contribute our talents and resources in support of others.

Rotary Club of Adelaide Light Mission Statement

Jokes Corner
Mistaken Identity

A guy goes into a pharmacy looking for some disinfectant.

He walks up to an employee in a white uniform and asks her "Excuse me, do you sell any products here that will kill the Coronavirus?"

She says, "ammonia cleaner". . .

He replies, "Oh sorry to bother you, I thought you were a pharmacist.
