Our club's social event dinner held on the balcony at the Riverside Rowing Club last Friday evening was a great success with about thirty people participating including members from the Eastwood Rotary Club and a large number of Rotaractors. Everyone appeared to be impressed with the very attractive view over the Torrens River.
Our next social function will be the club's Christmas Party which is planned for Friday 30th. November from 6pm. at the Croquet Club on the corner of Hutt Road and Glen Osmond Road.
The club's next barbeque is at Bunnings at Mile End next Monday 15th. October.
I hope that many of our club members can attend the Combined Districts Australian Rotary Health High Tea this coming Sunday 14th. October, 2pm until 4.30pm. at the Riverside Rowing Club which is fundraising for Lift The Lid on mental illness.
The next Catherine House working bee is set for this coming Saturday 13th. Oct. commencing at 8.30am. and at this stage we also planning for Sat. 20th. Oct.
A reminder that it was decided that the club would not collect empty wine bottles, however if individuals wished to, they would need to return them to a recycle centre which I have commenced doing.

Last Sunday (October 7), we recommenced our Bread Run from Bakers Delight in North Adelaide to our usual delivery spots – Ronald McDonald House, the Moore Street Centre, and Catherine House.
The new franchisee, Jinneesh Phillips, has been most cooperative and pleased to see us involved. And our delivery partners are thrilled that they are receiving the bread again.
Thanks to David Riggall (just back from overseas), Bruce McDonald and Richard Jarrett who were the crew for the first weekend.
Richard Jarrett has drawn up the roster for October-November, and if you are on it, you should have received it by now.
For the benefit of members, we will aim to give the Duty Roster a few weeks ahead - see below.

Wanda's dishwasher quit working so she called in a repairman. Since she had to go to work the next day, she told the repairman,
"I'll leave the key under the mat. Fix the dishwasher, leave the bill on the counter, and I'll mail you a cheque. Oh, by the way don't worry about my dog Spike.
He won't bother you." "But, whatever you do, do NOT, under ANY circumstance, talk to my parrot!"
"I MUST STRESS TO YOU: DO NOT TALK TO MY PARROT!!!"
When the repairman arrived at Wanda 's apartment the following day, he discovered the biggest, meanest looking dog he has ever seen. But, just as she had said, the dog just lay there on the carpet watching the repairman go about his work.
The parrot, however, drove him nuts the whole time with his incessant yelling, cursing and name calling.
Finally the repairman couldn't contain himself any longer and yelled, "Shut up, you stupid, ugly bird!"
