Dear Rotarians and Friends
Our most interesting and enthusiastic guest speaker last week was Damien Lynch district  Rotaract representative. Damien Attended Rotasia 2016 in Sri Lanka. Rotasia is organised by Rotaract for Nepal, India and Bangladesh. There were over 600 international delegates  and there were Professional speakers from Sri Lanka. Delegates were often up to 2 hours late for sessions due to traffic. There were puzzles in teams and breakout sessions. Rotaratctors had to then present in front of everyone. The event had  a fantastic cultural evening. We have a lot to learn from the event. There was a city wide scavenger hunt involving the general public and 600 Rotaratctors with around 1000 people participating. Closing ceremony was a formal event (though 2 hours late). They have a Rotaract radio show. Next year the event is in Chandigarh. The energy the Indians have for Rotaract is amazing. After the event. Cameron and Damien then went to Singapore. Helped out by cooking food for adults that have a mental disability. What did Damien bring back, energy from the Indians, respect for position of DRR, confidence in rotary to sustain its numbers, gratefulness for being healthy,  cultural exchanges. Responsibility for position of DRR to be able to do more for Rotaract. There are 68 registered rotaratctors in our district. One of the challenges for Rotaract is that people don't know what it is. Need to do more publicity.

We also had our 2 RYLA participants Chelsea and Nabir attend our meeting. This week we have the tour of Adelaide Oval on Thursday afternoon.

2.         The Rotary Foundation Movie Fundraiser
This year’s Rotary Foundation Film Fundraiser for supporting END POLIO NOW, is a brilliant film EDDIE THE EAGLE. The Date is 16th April at the Capri Theatre, Goodwood, and including an Organ Recital by Rotarian Col Williams starting at 3:45pm Yep!, We know there is a Crows Game at 7:00pm, so why not have a Great Day with a really funny film.  Afterwards, join us for a quick friendship dinner, then all Crows supporters can leave and non-crows fans can continue have a great fellowship gathering at 1 of 2 places selected for Dinner. 6.          Australian Rotary Health Luncheon
Tuesday 7th June  Kooyonga Golf Club 6.30pm – 7.00pm start. Come and hear a presentation by Bob Aitken on behalf of Australian Rotary Health. 
 
7.          District Governor's Change Over
DGE John Pohl would like to extend an invitation to Rotarians and partners, and Friends of Rotary to attend the District Governor’s Changeover Brunch Sunday June 26th at 10.00 am for 10.30 am at the Glenelg Golf Club.  Booking details are in the District Dispatch.

Chairman: Meet/greet speaker for the meeting; introduce and thank speaker. Preparation:- find details about  the speaker prior to the meeting.
Attendance: Set up reception table (attendance sheet; members list – re -payments; guest welcome sheet; money; wine raffle sheet); register member payments/ apologies/ guests.
Hosting: Set up name badges display; welcome all at the door; ensure speaker and guests are introduced to appropriate persons.
Furniture: Flags; banner display; raffle balls; collection boxes; Rotary theme banner; gong and hammer; lectern position before and returned after the meeting. Computer set up – Connect to projector. Switch on. Hold function key & press F5 twice.
Invocation: Recite Rotary or other invocation relating to Rotary and fellowship.
Bottles/cans: Collect bags of bottles/cans at meeting and take to recycle centre for refund, pass refund and empty bags to David Rowe at next meeting.
Members’ Corner: write for the Newsletter on a topic of your choice, particularly during the 3 weeks you appear here on the roster, but also anytime you have something to say.
Rotaract, Church, Bread roster: Roster is for the Sunday/Monday after the meeting date.
Rotaract: Meets alternate Mondays at 6pm (for a 630pm start) at the General Havelock Hotel in Hutt Street.
Church: Sundays, 5.30pm at Pilgrim Uniting Church, 12 Flinders St (Park via boom gate in Flinders St. from 5pm).
Bread: Sundays, meet outside Romeo's, North Adelaide at 4:45pm

Vacuum Cleaner
 
A little old lady answered a knock on the door one day, only to be confronted by a well-dressed young man carrying a vacuum cleaner.

"Good morning," said the young man. "If I could take a couple of minutes of your time, I would like to demonstrate the very latest in high-powered vacuum cleaners."

"Go away!" said the old lady. "I haven't got any money!" and she proceeded to close the door.

Quick as a flash, the young man wedged his foot in the door and pushed it wide open. "Don't be too hasty!" he said. "Not until you have at least seen my demonstration."

And with that, he emptied a bucket of horse manure onto her hallway carpet.

"If this vacuum cleaner does not remove all traces of this horse manure from your carpet, Madam, I will personally eat the remainder."

"Well," she said, "I hope you've got a good appetite because the electricity was cut off this morning."
