Stories
President's Pen
We were treated to a breakfast talk last week by a great raconteur, Ian Doyle, whose topic was “Tom Kruse the Birdsville Mailman”. He mentioned the 1954 film Back of Beyond which many members could remember seeing as children and those who bought the DVD will now have the opportunity of viewing again.

Please remember this Thursday we will not be meeting at The Royal Coach, but instead will gather at 10.30am at  Wohlers, 165 Richmond Rd., Richmond for a morning tea, a brief talk on their history and a look at their beautiful store.

Also note: Thursday 1st March our meeting day and date have moved to Monday 26 Feb at 6pm at The Havelock Hotel, Hutt St., Adelaide where will be holding a joint meeting with Adelaide City Rotaract Club and talking about our upcoming weekend at  Calperum. Meeting will finish between 7.30pm and 8pm. Hope as many Rotarians as possible can join us. This change is of course due to the V8’s and traffic congestion around The Royal Coach.

Thank you to those Club Members who worked at the bbq last Friday.

Thought for the week:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away.

Ian Doyle, Guest Speaker

Yvette donated these sausage servers, which she made.

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Affirmation

United in the spirit of Service we value truth, fairness and friendship; and we welcome the opportunity that Rotary gives us to contribute our talents and resources in support of others.

Rotary Club of Adelaide Light Mission Statement

To be recognised as the Service Club of Choice in the Eastern Precinct of Adelaide because we are a Friendly Breakfast Club that appeals to a broad range of busy people who want to make a difference to local and international communities.

Jokes Corner

A recent article in a San Francisco newspaper reported that the patient’s wife has sued a hospital, saying that "after her husband had surgery there, he lost all interest in sex."

A hospital spokesman replied: "Your husband was admitted for cataract surgery.  All we did was correct his eyesight.”
