Last week's combined meeting with Eastwood was an outstanding success and it was great to catch up with them. The address by the new DG of 9510, David Jones was excellent as was his wife, Lyn's and it was a shame that some of our newer member's missed it. John W. is planning to obtain a copy which he can forward to those who were unable to attend.
This Thursday morning is a Coffee Conversation at the White Picket Fence in Dulwich, arriving at 9.30 am.
Our next meeting, face to face, is at the Stamford Plaza on Thursday 13th. August, 7.am for a prompt 7.15 am start.
At the time of writing, unfortunately I am unable to confirm our proposed dinner meeting with Adelaide Parks at the Naval and Military Club on Wednesday 23rd August. Hopefully I can do this next week.
Kirsti has put forward two very good proposals which the Board have approved in principle. Birthing Kit Packing Event planned for September, and Dignity/Domestic Violence Packs Project which Kirsti is currently investigating.

When:- Friday 7 August 2020
Time:- 7:15 a.m. for a 7:30 a.m. start
Where:- We will meet at Victoria Park, walk along Hutt Street past the Hutt Street Centre and finish off at Commissary Rose Park 160 Fullarton Rd, Rose Park SA 5067.
For the benefit of members, we will aim to give the Duty Roster a few weeks ahead - see below.

Attendance: Set up reception table (attendance sheet; members list – re -payments; guest welcome sheet; money); register member payments/ apologies/ guests. Hosting: Welcome all at the door; ensure speaker and guests are introduced to appropriatepersons. As incredible as it sounds, men and women took baths only twice a year (May and October).
Women kept their hair covered, while men shaved their heads (because of lice and bugs), and wore wigs.
Wealthy men could afford good wigs made from wool. They couldn't wash the wigs, so to clean them they would carve out a loaf of bread, put the wig in the shell, and bake it for 30 minutes. The heat would make the wig big and fluffy, hence the term 'big wig'.
Today we often use the term 'here comes the Big Wig' because someone appears to be, or is, powerful and wealthy.
